MFK Ruzomberok Women produced a powerful attacking display to beat FC Petrzalka Women 5-2 in the SVK WD1 on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The visitors scored five times in a match that was entertaining from start to finish, showing why they are considered one of the strongest sides in the Slovak Women’s First Division.

Petrzalka contributed to a lively contest and scored twice, but Ruzomberok’s finishing and intensity in the final third proved decisive.

Match overview

Ruzomberok started brightly and took the lead inside the first 15 minutes. A quick passing move opened up the Petrzalka defence, and the forward slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. Petrzalka responded well, equalizing in the 24th minute after a determined run and a low cross that was converted at the near post.

But Ruzomberok regained control before half-time. They scored twice in the space of six minutes, first from a corner and then from a penalty after a foul in the box. At 3-1, the visitors looked comfortable, but Petrzalka refused to fold and pulled one back early in the second half to make it 3-2.

That goal briefly gave Petrzalka hope, but Ruzomberok responded like a title contender. They scored a fourth in the 68th minute and a fifth in the 81st, killing off the game with clinical counterattacks. The final scoreline reflected their superior quality in the attacking third.

Tactical story

Ruzomberok used a 4-3-3 formation and pressed Petrzalka high up the pitch. Their midfielders won the ball back quickly and immediately looked forward, which created several scoring chances. The front three rotated constantly, making it difficult for Petrzalka’s defenders to mark them.

Petrzalka tried to play through the middle, but Ruzomberok’s midfield block was compact and aggressive. When Petrzalka did get forward, they looked dangerous, especially from crosses. However, their defensive shape was often stretched, and Ruzomberok exploited the space with direct running.

Standout players

Ruzomberok’s centre-forward was the standout performer, scoring twice and setting up another. The right winger also caused persistent problems with her pace, while the central midfielder controlled the game with intelligent passing. The goalkeeper made a few important saves, especially at 3-2, to prevent a nervy finish.

For Petrzalka, the attacking midfielder was their best player, driving forward and creating chances. The striker who scored the second goal showed good instincts in the box. But the team’s defensive errors proved too costly against such a ruthless opponent.

Standings and season impact

The victory strengthens Ruzomberok’s position in the SVK WD1 standings and keeps them firmly in the title race. Their goal difference also received a boost, which could matter later in the season. Petrzalka remain outside the top places and will need to improve defensively if they are to climb the table. The result adds another high-scoring chapter to the head-to-head record between these two sides.
