Trencin U19 3-2 FC Tatran Presov U19 — Trencin U19 came out on top in an entertaining Slovak U19 A clash on 17 October 2026, defeating FC Tatran Presov U19 3-2 after a second-half fightback from the visitors had threatened to steal the points. The home side’s early control and late composure proved decisive in a match that showcased the attacking quality and competitive edge of youth football at this level.

The game had a little of everything: quick combination play, pressing, turnovers and a tense finish. Trencin’s academy side started with purpose and looked comfortable in possession, while Presov grew into the contest and showed real character to recover from a two-goal deficit before the hosts found a late winner.

Match overview

Trencin began on the front foot, pressing high and forcing Presov into hurried clearances. The hosts used the width of the pitch well and created overloads in wide areas, with their midfielders arriving in the box to support attacks. Presov initially struggled to keep the ball, but their compact defensive shape kept the game from running away from them in the opening quarter.

After Trencin moved ahead, the match opened up. Presov became more aggressive in their pressing and found space between the lines, pulling one goal back before half-time. The second half was end-to-end, with both goalkeepers called into action and both coaches making changes to influence the tempo. Just when the game looked set to finish level, Trencin produced the decisive move of the afternoon.

• 25th minute: The hosts doubled their advantage when a midfield turnover led to a swift counter-attack and a composed finish past the Presov goalkeeper.
• 39th minute: FC Tatran Presov U19 pulled one back with a well-worked set-piece routine, heading in from a deep free-kick.

Tactical story

Trencin’s game plan was based on high energy and quick ball circulation. Their midfield pressed aggressively, forcing Presov to play long, and their full-backs pushed forward to create numerical advantages in wide areas. The early goals came from exactly that approach: winning the ball back quickly and attacking before the opposition could reset.

Presov adapted well after falling behind. They dropped their defensive line slightly, protected the central corridor and began to use their wingers to carry the ball forward. Their equaliser was reward for a much-improved second-half display, but the visitors were ultimately punished for leaving space in behind while chasing the game. Trencin’s late winner came from a moment of individual quality and a smart substitution, underlining the depth available to the home side.

Standout performers

Trencin’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of most of their best moves, linking play between the lines and delivering the final pass for the opening goal. The substitute who helped create the winner made a significant impact, while the home goalkeeper produced a crucial save at 2-2 to keep the score level before Trencin’s late breakthrough.

For Presov, the captain led by example in midfield, driving the comeback with energy and intelligent passing. The striker’s movement caused problems throughout, and the set-piece goal highlighted the team’s preparedness. Despite the defeat, Presov’s second-half performance showed why they remain a competitive side in the Slovak U19 A division.

What the result means

The win gives Trencin U19 an important boost in the league table and reinforces the strength of their academy setup. For Presov U19, the loss is a narrow one that will sting, but the comeback from 2-0 down demonstrates resilience. In a youth league where development matters as much as results, both teams will take lessons from a match that was played at a high tempo and decided by small margins. Trencin’s ability to respond after surrendering the lead was the difference on the day.
