FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova U19 and FC Tatran Presov U19 shared the points in a 2-2 draw in the Slovak U19 A on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, with Presov fighting back from two goals down to earn a result that felt significant for both sides.

Podbrezova started brightly and built a deserved two-goal lead with a high-energy first-half performance. Presov responded after the break with a much more aggressive approach, and two second-half goals completed a comeback that changed the mood of the contest.

Match overview

The home side set the tone early, pressing Presov high and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. Podbrezova's midfield kept the ball moving quickly, and their front line looked sharp whenever the home team won possession in the attacking half.

Presov struggled to settle during the opening period, but they remained dangerous on the counter and began to find more space as the game opened up after half-time. The second half was a far more balanced affair, with both teams creating chances and the momentum shifting repeatedly.

Key moments

• 17th minute: Podbrezova took the lead after a turnover in midfield, finishing low into the corner from the edge of the box.
• 34th minute: The hosts doubled their advantage when a corner was headed home from close range.
• 56th minute: Presov pulled one back with a curling effort from outside the area that found the top corner.
• 68th minute: Podbrezova nearly restored their two-goal cushion, but a shot came back off the post.
• 81st minute: Presov equalised after a scramble in the box, forcing the ball over the line from close range.
• 90+3rd minute: Presov almost won it late, but the Podbrezova goalkeeper made a strong save to preserve a point.

Tactical story

Podbrezova's first-half dominance came from their pressing structure. They closed down Presov's midfield runners and forced mistakes high up the pitch, allowing them to attack with numbers. The two-goal lead was a fair reflection of their control during that period.

Presov changed the flow of the game after the interval by pushing their full-backs higher and committing an extra midfielder to the press. That adjustment gave them more possession in advanced areas and forced Podbrezova deeper. The equaliser came from sustained pressure rather than a single moment of magic, and it rewarded Presov's improved second-half display.

Standout performers

Podbrezova's central midfielder was influential throughout, linking play and setting the tempo during the home side's best spells. Their forward line caused problems with sharp movement, and the goalkeeper made a crucial late save that ensured the hosts were not beaten.

For Presov, the substitute midfielder who scored the first goal changed the game after coming on, adding energy and directness. The Presov captain also grew into the contest, leading the second-half response and helping his side manage the closing stages.

What the draw means

The point leaves both teams with mixed emotions. Podbrezova will be disappointed to have let a two-goal lead slip, especially after controlling much of the first half. Presov, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their comeback and the character shown after a difficult opening period.

In the Slovak U19 A table, the draw keeps both sides in the chasing pack and underlines how competitive the division can be. For a Podbrezova vs Presov fixture, the result adds another chapter to a competitive rivalry and gives both coaches plenty to review before the next round of matches.
