Tatran Presov 0-1 FC STK 1914 Samorin: Late Černák strike decides tight Slovak 2.Liga battle

FC STK 1914 Samorin claimed a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Tatran Presov in the Slovak 2.Liga on Sunday, 20 September 2026. A late goal from Patrik Černák proved the difference in a match that was short on clear chances but high on tension, tactical discipline and late drama.

Tatran Presov enjoyed more possession and created the better openings in the first hour, but they were unable to convert their control into goals. FC STK 1914 Samorin defended deep, absorbed pressure and waited for their moment. That moment arrived in the 73rd minute, and it was enough to send the visitors home with all three points.

Match overview

The home side started brightly and looked to dominate the ball. Tatran Presov moved it patiently from side to side, trying to draw Samorin out of their defensive block. Their best early opportunity came from a corner, but a header flashed just wide of the far post. Samorin, meanwhile, were content to sit compact and spring forward on the counterattack.

As the first half progressed, Tatran Presov grew increasingly frustrated. A goal was ruled out for offside in the 38th minute, and that decision seemed to unsettle the hosts. Samorin goalkeeper Lukáš Kováč made two important saves either side of halftime, keeping his team level and setting the stage for the late winner.

Key moments

• 22nd minute – Presov's first chance: A low drive from the edge of the area forced a strong save from the Samorin goalkeeper.
• 38th minute – Goal disallowed: Tatran Presov found the net from a set piece, but the flag went up for offside.
• 73rd minute – Patrik Černák scores: Samorin broke quickly down the left, and Černák arrived at the back post to convert a measured cross.
• 88th minute – Kováč preserves the win: The Samorin goalkeeper reacted sharply to deny Presov an equalizer from close range.

Tactical story

FC STK 1914 Samorin set up in a disciplined 4-2-3-1 without the ball, with the front four dropping into midfield to form a compact block. Their plan was clear: deny space between the lines, force Tatran Presov wide and then defend the crosses. It was not always pretty, but it was effective.

Tatran Presov dominated possession but struggled to break through centrally. Their wingers delivered a number of crosses, yet Samorin's center-backs dealt with most of them. When the hosts did find pockets of space, their final pass was often rushed. Samorin's patience paid off when they finally found a moment of quality on the counterattack.

Standout performers

Patrik Černák will take the headlines for his match-winning goal, but goalkeeper Lukáš Kováč was equally important. His saves in the first and second halves kept Samorin in the contest. For Tatran Presov, the midfield duo worked tirelessly to create chances, but the attacking line lacked the sharpness needed to break down a stubborn defense.

Slovak 2.Liga standings impact

The win gives FC STK 1914 Samorin a valuable away result and strengthens their position in the Slovak 2.Liga table. Tatran Presov, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a frustrating afternoon in which possession and territory brought no reward. The defeat is a reminder that in a competitive league, taking chances when they arrive is essential.
