Tatran Presov and MSK Zilina B played out a competitive 1-1 draw in the Slovak 2. Liga, with both sides enjoying spells of control but neither able to find a winning goal at the Stadion Tatran.

Presov struck first and looked capable of turning home advantage into three points, but Zilina B responded with a more assertive second-half display and earned a share of the spoils. The result leaves both teams with mixed feelings: Presov will regret not protecting their lead, while Zilina B can take encouragement from their response.

Match overview

The home side started brightly, pressing Zilina B’s young defenders and forcing several early turnovers. That pressure paid off when Presov opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing a quick attacking move that started on the right flank and ended with a composed strike inside the box.

Zilina B gradually settled after conceding. Their midfield began to find pockets of space between Presov’s lines, and the equaliser arrived in the 61st minute after a sustained period of possession. A neat exchange on the edge of the area created room for a low finish, bringing the visitors level and setting up an open final half-hour.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Tatran Presov take the lead with a well-worked move down the right and a precise finish.
• 38th minute: Zilina B force a sharp save from the Presov goalkeeper after a free-kick from a dangerous position.
• 61st minute: The visitors equalise through a composed finish after a patient passing sequence.
• 74th minute: Presov head a corner narrowly over the bar as the home side push for a winner.
• 88th minute: Zilina B break forward in numbers, but the final shot is blocked inside the penalty area.

Tactical story

Presov’s approach was built on intensity and early pressure. They tried to force Zilina B into mistakes in their own half and used the flanks to deliver crosses into the box. For much of the first hour, that strategy worked well, but Presov’s control faded as the match wore on and spaces opened in midfield.

Zilina B adapted impressively after the break. Their midfielders dropped deeper to receive the ball, allowing the full-backs to advance and create width. The equalising goal was a clear example of their patient build-up, and they looked the more likely side to score in the closing stages. Presov, however, defended their box well enough to avoid a late defeat.

Standout performers

Presov’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of their best moves, linking play between midfield and attack and creating the opening goal. The home goalkeeper also made important saves, particularly from set pieces, to keep the score level after Zilina B’s equaliser.

For Zilina B, the central midfield duo grew into the game and helped turn possession into territory. Their ability to recycle the ball quickly allowed the visitors to sustain pressure, while the defence recovered well after a shaky opening spell.

What the result means

The draw adds another point to both teams’ tallies in the Slovak 2. Liga standings, but the context differs. Presov will see it as two points dropped at home, especially after taking the lead. Zilina B will view it as a useful away result against an experienced opponent.

In a league where consistency is often the difference between promotion contention and mid-table security, both sides will need to convert promising spells into full-match performances. The Slovak 2. Liga results continue to leave little margin for error, and this draw keeps the competition as unpredictable as ever.
