MFK Spartak Medzev secure impressive away win at Spisska Nova Ves

MFK Spartak Medzev claimed a 2-1 victory away to Spisska Nova Ves in the Slovak 3.Liga on 10 October 2026, delivering a composed and tactically mature performance. Medzev scored in each half, absorbed pressure when required, and held off a late surge from the hosts to take all three points.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Lukáš Fabian found space between the centre-backs and finished neatly after a well-worked move down the right. Spisska Nova Ves responded with more possession and a series of crosses, but Medzev’s goalkeeper was alert and the defence cleared its lines effectively. Medzev doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Marián Gonda, who struck from the edge of the box after a partially cleared corner.

Key moments

• 14th minute: Lukáš Fabian put MFK Spartak Medzev ahead with a precise low finish.
• 31st minute: Spisska Nova Ves forced a fine save from a close-range header.
• 58th minute: Marián Gonda made it 2-0 with a powerful strike from outside the area.

• 85th minute: Medzev cleared a dangerous ball across the six-yard box.

Tactical story

Medzev were happy to concede possession in deeper areas and attack through quick, direct breaks. Their midfield blocked the central corridor, forcing Spisska Nova Ves into hopeful crosses that were often handled by a disciplined back line. The second goal was especially damaging because it arrived just as the hosts were building momentum after half-time.

Spisska Nova Ves improved after the introduction of fresh legs and pulled a goal back through Šimko, but they lacked the final bit of quality in the closing minutes. Medzev dropped their defensive line a little deeper and protected the lead with experienced game management, slowing the tempo and taking the sting out of the home side’s pressure.

Standout players

Fabian and Gonda were the match-winners for Medzev, with the latter’s strike from distance proving the decisive moment. Medzev’s goalkeeper also made two important saves at 1-0 and 2-1. For Spisska Nova Ves, Šimko was the most persistent threat and deserved his goal, while their captain tried to drive the team forward from midfield.

Table impact

The win gives MFK Spartak Medzev a valuable boost in the Slovak 3.Liga standings and underlines their ability to win on the road. Spisska Nova Ves are left to reflect on a game in which they created enough chances but were punished for two defensive lapses. Both sides remain in the thick of a competitive third-tier campaign where away form often separates promotion hopefuls from the pack.
