Match overview

Sokol Medzibrod briefly responded with a goal of their own, but Filakovo restored their two-goal cushion just before the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Tactical story

FTC Filakovo’s game plan was built on aggressive pressing and rapid vertical passes. They won the ball high up the pitch, attacked the space behind Medzibrod’s back line, and used their wide players to stretch the defence. Every time Medzibrod lost possession in midfield, Filakovo looked capable of scoring.

Sokol Medzibrod tried to play out from the back, but they were repeatedly caught in transition. Their two goals came from moments of individual quality, yet they could not sustain enough pressure to seriously threaten a comeback. Defensive errors and poor marking at set-pieces proved costly, and Filakovo’s ruthless finishing turned the match into a one-sided affair.

Standout players

FTC Filakovo’s hat-trick hero was the obvious star of the match, combining sharp movement with excellent finishing. He was supported brilliantly by the attacking midfielder, who created several chances with clever passes. For Sokol Medzibrod, the two goalscorers showed fighting spirit, but the team’s defensive unit endured a difficult evening against a fluent and confident opponent.

Season impact

This 5-2 win gives FTC Filakovo a major boost in the Slovak 3.Liga promotion race and reinforces their reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous attacking sides. Sokol Medzibrod, meanwhile, will need to address their defensive organisation quickly, as conceding five goals at home can have a lasting effect on confidence. The result leaves Filakovo looking upward and Medzibrod focused on stabilising their campaign.
