Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš came from behind to beat OFK Malženice 2-1 in the Slovak 2. Liga on Sunday, 27 September 2026, with a late goal settling a hard-fought contest that swung back and forth after the interval.

Played at Malženice's home ground, the match kicked off at 16:30 and delivered exactly what the second tier is known for: physical duels, quick transitions, and a finish that kept the outcome in doubt until the final whistle. The result leaves Malženice reflecting on a missed opportunity, while Tatran LM take home a valuable away win.

Match Overview

The hosts made the brighter start and were rewarded midway through the first half. A sustained spell of pressure ended with a well-worked move down the right, and the resulting cross was converted from close range to make it 1-0. Malženice's supporters were on their feet, and for a period the home side looked the more likely to add a second.

Tatran LM, however, grew into the game. Their midfield began to win second balls, and the equaliser arrived shortly before the break. A cleverly disguised pass opened up the Malženice defence, and the finish was emphatic – low into the bottom corner to level the score at 1-1 going into half-time.

Tactical Story

Malženice set up with a high defensive line and looked to press aggressively in the first half, which worked well for the opening half-hour. As the game progressed, however, the gaps between their midfield and defence widened. Tatran LM exploited those spaces by playing direct balls into the channels and supporting quickly with runners from deep.

The winning goal was a perfect example of that approach. After winning possession in their own half, Tatran LM moved the ball forward in three passes, drew the Malženice centre-backs out of position, and finished with the kind of clinical edge that separates the top teams in the division from the rest.

Standout Players

Tatran LM's number nine was a constant threat, holding the ball up well and linking play intelligently; his equaliser was the turning point of the match. The visiting goalkeeper also deserves credit for a crucial save at 1-1. For Malženice, the right-winger was their most dangerous player, while the central midfielder worked tirelessly to break up play.

Season Impact

The victory keeps Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš in touch with the promotion-chasing pack in the Slovak 2. Liga table. For OFK Malženice, the defeat is a reminder of how unforgiving the division can be: they performed well for long periods but were ultimately undone by a moment of quality. Both sides now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, where consistency will be key.
