Namestovo won a five-goal thriller against Novohrad Lucenec, claiming a 3-2 victory in the Slovak 3.Liga on 17 October 2026 after surrendering a two-goal lead and then finding a late winner.

Match overview

Namestovo made a fast start and looked in complete control for much of the first half. Two well-worked goals gave them a comfortable advantage, and the home side appeared on course for a straightforward win. Novohrad Lucenec, however, refused to fold and pulled one back early in the second half.

The visitors grew in confidence after that goal and equalised midway through the second period, turning the match into an end-to-end contest. With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Namestovo found one final attacking moment and scored the decisive goal late on.

• 51st minute: Novohrad Lucenec pulled one back with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Tactical story

Namestovo’s early dominance came from aggressive pressing and quick ball movement. They forced Novohrad Lucenec into mistakes and used the wide areas effectively, delivering dangerous crosses into the box. The two-goal lead was a fair reflection of their first-half performance.

Novohrad Lucenec changed their approach after the break, pushing their midfield higher and committing more players forward. That shift disrupted Namestovo’s rhythm and helped the visitors score twice. In the end, though, Namestovo’s ability to counter-attack in the closing minutes proved decisive.

Standout performers

Namestovo’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of the team’s best moves, linking play and creating space for the forwards. The set-piece delivery that produced the second goal was also outstanding. For Novohrad Lucenec, the forward who sparked the comeback worked tirelessly and gave the home defence problems throughout the second half.

Table and season impact

The win gives Namestovo an important three points in the Slovak 3.Liga standings and rewards their attacking ambition. It also shows the team’s resilience after letting a comfortable lead slip.

Novohrad Lucenec will be disappointed to leave empty-handed after a brave second-half fightback, but the performance offers positives. Both sides showed why the third tier can be unpredictable and entertaining, with this five-goal contest serving as one of the weekend’s most dramatic matches.
