MFK Spartak Medzev produced a powerful second-half performance to beat TeslaStropkov 3-1 in the Slovak 3.Liga on 17 October 2026. Jakub Benko scored twice, and a late third goal sealed a home victory that underlined Medzev’s attacking threat under the 20:30 lights.

Match overview

The game opened at a lively pace, with Medzev pressing high and TeslaStropkov looking to strike on the counter. Medzev’s early pressure was rewarded when Benko opened the scoring, but TeslaStropkov responded well and found an equaliser before half-time to set up an intriguing second period.

The hosts regained control after the break, winning more second balls and pushing their full-backs higher. Once Benko restored the lead, Medzev never looked like surrendering it, and a late third goal gave the scoreline a fair reflection of their second-half superiority.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Benko gave Medzev the lead with a sharp finish after a high turnover forced TeslaStropkov into a hurried clearance.
• 38th minute: Lukas Stefko equalised for TeslaStropkov, converting a quick counter-attack with a low effort across the goalkeeper.
• 57th minute: Benko struck again, arriving at the back post to convert a cross from the left and restore Medzev’s advantage.
• 79th minute: Samuel Varga made it 3-1 with a composed finish after Medzev worked the ball patiently around the edge of the box.
• 88th minute: Medzev goalkeeper Matej Kral made a late save to deny TeslaStropkov a consolation goal and keep the margin comfortable.

Tactical story

Medzev’s 4-3-3 system was built on aggressive pressing and wide overloads. Their midfield trio suffocated TeslaStropkov’s first pass out of defence, and the front three constantly rotated to create space for crosses into the box. Benko’s movement between the centre-backs was particularly difficult to handle, and his two goals came from exactly the kind of penalty-area positioning the system is designed to produce.

TeslaStropkov had joy in transition during the first half, especially when Medzev’s full-backs pushed forward, but they could not sustain that threat after the interval. Medzev adjusted by keeping one midfielder closer to the centre-backs, which reduced the space for counters and allowed them to camp in the opposition half for long stretches.

Standout players

Benko was the headline performer with his brace, combining sharp movement with clinical finishing. Peter Havran controlled the tempo from midfield and repeatedly won the ball back in advanced areas, while Kral’s late save ensured there would be no nervous finish. For TeslaStropkov, Stefko took his goal well and remained a threat on the break, but the visitors struggled defensively once Medzev increased the tempo.

Table and season impact

The three points strengthen MFK Spartak Medzev’s home record and give them momentum in the Slovak 3.Liga standings. A 3-1 win also improves their goal difference, which can matter in a tight promotion or mid-table race. TeslaStropkov will need to regroup quickly, particularly away from home, where they have found it difficult to protect leads and contain sustained pressure.
