MFK Snina Edge Spisska Nova Ves with Late Winner

MFK Snina claimed a 2-1 victory over Spisska Nova Ves in Slovak 3. Liga on Sunday, 18 October 2026, using home advantage and a late goal to take all three points. The match was evenly contested for long spells, but Snina’s greater urgency in the final 20 minutes proved decisive.

The hosts started confidently and took the lead in the 19th minute when Peter Koval finished neatly after a patient passing move down the left. Spisska Nova Ves responded well, pressing higher and forcing Snina into a few defensive errors before half-time, but the visitors could not find an equaliser before the break.

Match Overview

Spisska Nova Ves levelled in the 54th minute through Martin Hruby, whose low shot from the edge of the box took a slight deflection on its way past the goalkeeper. The goal changed the momentum, and for a spell the visitors looked the more likely side to score again.

Snina, however, weathered the pressure and regained control through their wide players. The winning goal arrived in the 78th minute when Lukas Seman met a deep cross at the back post and guided a header back across goal and into the net. Spisska Nova Ves pushed late for another equaliser, but Snina defended their box well in the closing minutes.

Tactical Story

Snina’s width was a key feature of their attacking play. They repeatedly looked to stretch Spisska Nova Ves down the flanks and deliver crosses into the box, a strategy that produced both goals. The hosts also pressed well in short bursts, forcing turnovers in midfield and preventing their opponents from building sustained possession.

Spisska Nova Ves were at their best after the equaliser, when they moved the ball quickly and tested Snina’s defensive resolve. But they struggled to deal with the aerial threat in the final stages, and that weakness proved costly. Snina’s game management after taking the lead again was calm and effective.

Standout Performers

Koval’s opener and Seman’s winner were the decisive contributions, but Snina’s goalkeeper also made an important save at 1-1 to keep the score level. The hosts’ wide defenders provided constant support in attack and defended well in one-on-one situations. For Spisska Nova Ves, Hruby was the standout performer, driving his team forward and scoring the equaliser.

The win gives MFK Snina an important three points in the Slovak 3. Liga standings and reinforces their strong home form. For Spisska Nova Ves, the late defeat is a tough one to absorb after a spirited second-half performance. Both sides will take lessons from a match that highlighted the importance of set-piece defending and concentration until the final whistle.
