Fomat Martin Beat Sokol Medzibrod 4-2 in Six-Goal Thriller

Fomat Martin produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Sokol Medzibrod 4-2 in Slovak 3.Liga on 17 October 2026. In a match full of tempo, transitions, and penalty-area action, the home side’s finishing proved decisive. Fomat Martin scored four times at home and withstood a spirited Medzibrod response to claim a valuable three points. The result underlines Martin’s attacking potential while exposing some of the defensive vulnerabilities that Medzibrod will need to address.

Match overview

The game started at a high tempo and rarely slowed. Fomat Martin looked comfortable in possession and created problems with quick combinations in the final third. Sokol Medzibrod, however, remained dangerous on the counterattack and through set pieces. The visitors scored twice, ensuring that the home side could not relax until the closing stages. Martin’s ability to restore control after conceding was the key feature of the match, and their fourth goal finally put the result beyond doubt.

Key moments

Fomat Martin opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Ján Šimko, who finished calmly after a flowing move. Sokol Medzibrod responded well and equalized in the 23rd minute when Lukáš Ondrejka found space inside the penalty area. Martin regained the lead seven minutes before half-time through Tomáš Krajčí, whose shot from the edge of the box beat the goalkeeper. Early in the second half, Šimko struck again to make it 3-1. Medzibrod reduced the deficit through Marek Hruška just after the hour mark, but Matej Bielik sealed the win with a fourth goal in the 77th minute.

Tactical story

Fomat Martin set up with an aggressive pressing approach, looking to win the ball high and attack before Medzibrod could organize. Their wide players stayed high, stretching the away defence and creating room for midfield runners. Sokol Medzibrod tried to bypass the press with direct passes and were rewarded at times, particularly when they attacked the space behind Martin’s full-backs. The difference came in the quality of finishing and Martin’s ability to sustain pressure in the final third. The home side’s transitions were sharper, and their movement around the penalty area consistently troubled the visiting back line.

Standout performers

Ján Šimko was the standout figure with two well-taken goals, constantly finding pockets of space between Medzibrod’s midfield and defence. Tomáš Krajčí controlled the tempo and added an important goal of his own, while Matej Bielik’s late strike capped a strong all-round attacking display. For Sokol Medzibrod, Lukáš Ondrejka and Marek Hruška took their goals well and kept the visitors competitive. Their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent the margin from growing, but Medzibrod’s defensive line struggled to cope with Martin’s quick combinations.

Season impact

The win gives Fomat Martin a significant confidence boost and highlights their capacity to score freely in Slovak 3.Liga. Four goals at home is a statement of intent, though the coaching staff will want a tighter defensive performance in future matches. For Sokol Medzibrod, the result is a setback, but their two-goal return shows they carry a genuine attacking threat. The challenge now is to find greater balance, particularly when defending transitions and protecting the space in front of the back four.
