FC Banik Prievidza edged TJ Spartak Myjava 3-2 in a five-goal thriller in the Slovak 3.Liga on 17 October 2026. The home side twice found themselves in a challenging contest but produced the decisive moment late on to claim a narrow victory in front of their supporters.

Match overview

The match started at a high tempo, with both teams committed to attacking football. Banik Prievidza looked to use home advantage and pressed forward early, while Spartak Myjava responded with quick breaks and direct passing. The first half produced chances at both ends and set the tone for an open, end-to-end contest.

Prievidza held a narrow advantage at stages of the game, but Myjava refused to go away and kept finding ways back into the match. With the score level in the closing stages, the home side pushed once more and found the winning goal to secure an important three points.

Key moments

• Opening goal: Banik Prievidza struck first after building pressure and finding space in the Myjava penalty area.
• Myjava response: The visitors equalised with a quick counter-attack that exposed space behind the home defence.
• Second-half exchange: Prievidza regained the lead, only for Myjava to fight back once more and set up a tense finish.
• Late winner: Prievidza scored the decisive goal in the final stages, sparking celebrations and leaving Myjava with little time to respond.

Tactical story

Prievidza’s attacking approach was built on quick combinations and movement between the lines. Their midfielders looked to play forward early, and the wide players repeatedly stretched Myjava’s defence. That aggression created chances, though it also left space for the visitors to exploit on the counter.

Spartak Myjava were dangerous whenever they won the ball in midfield and transitioned quickly. Their equalising spells showed their resilience, but defensive lapses proved costly. In the end, Prievidza’s willingness to keep pushing forward delivered the winning goal, while Myjava were left to rue the chances they conceded at key moments.

Standout performers

Banik Prievidza’s attacking players shared the load, with sharp movement and composed finishing in the final third. The midfield also deserves credit for maintaining energy throughout a demanding contest. For TJ Spartak Myjava, the forward line caused problems all afternoon, but the team could not hold on for a point.

Season impact

The win is a valuable one for FC Banik Prievidza in the Slovak 3.Liga table, especially given the competitive nature of the match. For Spartak Myjava, the defeat is painful after twice fighting back into the game, but their attacking display offers encouragement. Prievidza will take momentum into their next fixture, while Myjava will focus on tightening up defensively.
