UE Tona 1-3 Pobla de Mafumet CF — Pobla de Mafumet CF secured a convincing 3-1 away victory over UE Tona in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, extending their strong start to the campaign at the Estadi Municipal de Tona.

Match Overview

Pobla de Mafumet produced a disciplined and efficient performance on the road, scoring three goals without ever looking seriously troubled by a UE Tona side that struggled to find rhythm. The visitors took an early lead, doubled it before half-time, and although Tona pulled one back after the break, Pobla restored their two-goal cushion to close out a deserved win.

The three points lift Pobla de Mafumet into the upper reaches of the Group 5 table, while UE Tona remain in the lower half, still searching for consistency. The match was a classic example of clinical finishing versus wasteful possession.

Key Moments

• 9th minute: Pobla de Mafumet opened the scoring with a swift counter-attack, finished off with a low drive into the bottom corner.
• 37th minute: A well-worked free-kick routine doubled the visitors' lead, the ball nodded in at the back post.
• 58th minute: UE Tona gave themselves hope when a deflected shot looped into the net, sparking a brief period of home pressure.

Tactical Story

Pobla de Mafumet lined up in a compact 4-4-2, happy to concede possession in midfield and strike on the break. Their defensive shape frustrated Tona, who dominated the ball but lacked penetration. The visitors' front two worked tirelessly to press and create turnovers, and their set-piece organisation was excellent.

UE Tona, by contrast, played a high line and committed bodies forward, which left them exposed to counter-attacks. Their goal came from a rare moment of fortune, but they never truly looked like salvaging a point. Pobla's game management in the final 15 minutes was mature beyond their years, as they slowed the tempo and took the sting out of the game before adding the late third.

Standout Players

Pobla de Mafumet's centre-forward was a constant thorn, scoring the opener and holding the ball up brilliantly. Their goalkeeper made two crucial saves at 2-1 to keep the lead intact. For UE Tona, the captain in midfield never stopped running, but the team's attacking players were guilty of over-elaboration in the final third.

Tercera División RFEF Table Impact

Pobla de Mafumet climb into the promotion play-off positions with this win, continuing their impressive away form. UE Tona remain in the bottom half, with just one win from their last five matches. The gap between the sides in the table was reflected on the pitch — Pobla looked like a team with a plan, while Tona looked like a team searching for answers.

What's Next

Pobla de Mafumet host fellow promotion hopefuls CF Peralada next weekend, while UE Tona face a tricky trip to Girona B. For Tona, the priority is clear: tighten up defensively and find a reliable goalscorer.
