UD Melilla came from behind to beat UD Torre del Mar 2-1 in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday evening, producing a composed second-half display at Estadio Juan Manuel Azuaga. The visitors trailed early but responded with two goals after the break to secure an important away win.

Torre del Mar began brightly and took the lead inside the opening quarter of an hour, energising the home crowd. However, Melilla’s experience and tactical discipline gradually took over, and the historic North African club turned the match around with goals in the 58th and 83rd minutes.

Match overview

The home side started with high intensity, pressing Melilla’s defenders and forcing errors in the early stages. Their reward came in the 12th minute when Álvaro Romero latched onto a through ball, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net. It was a well-worked goal that reflected Torre del Mar’s positive approach.

Melilla stabilised after conceding, slowing the tempo and keeping possession more carefully. They began to find space in wide areas, and their equaliser arrived in the 58th minute through Youssef El Amrani, who finished calmly after a cut-back from the left. Torre del Mar tried to respond, but Melilla’s defence held firm before Dani Martín struck the winner late on.

Tactical story

Once Melilla adjusted and began playing through the press, they controlled the rhythm of the match. Their midfielders found pockets of space, and the wide players delivered dangerous crosses into the box.

Melilla’s experience showed in the second half. They managed the game intelligently, slowing things down when needed and accelerating when Torre del Mar committed men forward. The winning goal came from a set piece, an area where Melilla’s physical presence proved decisive. Torre del Mar pushed for an equaliser in the final minutes, but Melilla defended with composure.

Standout players

Youssef El Amrani was central to Melilla’s comeback, linking play and scoring the equaliser. Dani Martín delivered the decisive moment with a powerful header, while the Melilla goalkeeper made a crucial save in the first half to keep his team within reach. For Torre del Mar, Álvaro Romero was lively throughout and took his goal well, but the home side could not maintain their early intensity.
