UD Alcudia 1-2 Santanyi: Santanyi snatch away victory in Balearic derby

Santanyi took all three points from their trip to UD Alcudia, winning 2-1 in a hard-fought Spanish Tercera División RFEF encounter between two Balearic Islands rivals. It was a result built on defensive discipline and clinical finishing, with the visitors making the most of their opportunities while Alcudia were left to reflect on a game they largely competed in.

Match overview

• Competition: Spanish Tercera División RFEF
• Fixture: UD Alcudia vs Santanyi
• Final score: UD Alcudia 1, Santanyi 2
• Result: Away win

Local pride was at stake in this Mallorcan meeting, and UD Alcudia began with the greater urgency, pressing Santanyi high and forcing early turnovers. The home side's supporters created a lively atmosphere, and for the opening twenty minutes Alcudia looked the more likely to score.

Santanyi, however, absorbed the pressure and gradually worked their way into the match. Their equaliser — and later their winner — came from the kind of efficient attacking play that has characterised their season.

Key moments

Alcudia's opening goal came during their strongest spell and briefly put them in control. But Santanyi responded quickly, striking back before the home side could build on their advantage. That immediate answer proved pivotal, shifting the momentum of the match.

The winning goal arrived in the second half, when Santanyi capitalised on a moment of hesitation in the Alcudia defence. From that point on, the visitors defended with organisation and determination, clearing crosses and blocking shots as the home team pushed forward in numbers. Alcudia's late surge produced half-chances but no equaliser.

Tactical story

UD Alcudia's approach was built on intensity: winning the ball high, attacking down the flanks and delivering early crosses. It worked in spells, particularly in the first half, but the final ball often arrived when Santanyi's centre-backs were well positioned.

Santanyi sat in a compact mid-block, invited pressure and looked to counter with pace. Their two goals demonstrated the value of that strategy — the away side needed only a handful of clear opportunities to take the points, while Alcudia's greater volume of possession went unrewarded.

Standout performers

Santanyi's defensive unit was the foundation of the win. Their goalkeeper dealt confidently with crosses, while the back four held its shape under sustained second-half pressure. In attack, the forward line's movement created the space required for both goals.

For UD Alcudia, the midfield trio worked tirelessly, recycling possession and driving the team forward. Their winger posed a constant threat on the break and was involved in the build-up to the home side's goal.

Season context

This result is a valuable one for Santanyi in the Tercera División RFEF, where away victories between island rivals are difficult to come by and can prove decisive in the final standings. It strengthens their position in the group and gives them confidence ahead of their next fixture.

UD Alcudia, meanwhile, will be frustrated to have lost a match in which they created enough to take something from it. Converting territorial dominance into goals will be the priority as they look to climb the table in the coming weeks.
