Torredonjimeno 1-1 Arenas Armilla: Points shared in Andalusian Tercera clash

Torredonjimeno and Arenas Armilla played out a competitive 1-1 draw in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on 21 September 2026 at Estadio Matías Prats. Both sides had spells of control, but neither could find a winning goal in a match that reflected the tight margins of Group 9 football.

The final score of Torredonjimeno 1-1 Arenas Armilla leaves both teams with a point, and the draw felt like a fair reflection of an evenly contested Andalusian derby.

Match overview

Torredonjimeno started brightly and took the lead in the 23rd minute when Álvaro Mena turned inside the box and finished neatly after a sustained period of pressure. The home side looked confident, moving the ball quickly through midfield and forcing Arenas Armilla to defend deep. However, Arenas Armilla grew into the game before half-time and began to find space behind the Torredonjimeno full-backs.

The equaliser arrived in the 61st minute. Javier López converted from close range after a well-delivered cross from the right, punishing Torredonjimeno for a momentary lapse in concentration. Both teams pushed for a winner in the final twenty minutes, but excellent goalkeeping and some last-ditch defending kept the score level.

Key moments

• 23rd minute – Torredonjimeno 1-0: Álvaro Mena created half a yard of space and placed a low shot beyond the goalkeeper.
• 61st minute – Torredonjimeno 1-1: Javier López nodded in from close range after a dangerous cross from the right wing.
• 84th minute – Late chance: Torredonjimeno’s substitute forced a strong save from the Arenas Armilla goalkeeper with a curling effort from the edge of the box.

Tactical story

Torredonjimeno used a patient 4-2-3-1, looking to overload the central areas and create shooting opportunities just outside the box. Arenas Armilla defended in a disciplined 4-4-2 and looked to counter through the channels. The visitors’ equaliser came from exactly that approach: a quick switch of play followed by a direct cross into the penalty area.

Possession was nearly even, with Torredonjimeno enjoying slightly more of the ball but Arenas Armilla creating the clearer chances on the break. The match became stretched in the final fifteen minutes, yet both defences held firm when it mattered most.

Standout players

Álvaro Mena was Torredonjimeno’s most inventive player, scoring the opener and linking play intelligently between the lines. Arenas Armilla’s Javier López was a constant threat in the box and took his goal well. Both goalkeepers deserve credit for important saves in the second half that ensured the points were shared.

What the result means for the Tercera División RFEF table

This Torredonjimeno 1-1 Arenas Armilla draw keeps both clubs in the mid-table conversation of their Tercera División RFEF group. Torredonjimeno will be frustrated not to have protected their lead, while Arenas Armilla will take confidence from a solid away performance. In a division where every point matters, the draw could prove valuable for both sides as the season progresses.
