SD Erandio Club 2-0 Amurrio delivered a convincing home victory in the Tercera División RFEF, as the Basque outfit produced a controlled, professional display to see off their opponents. Two goals and a clean sheet made it a thoroughly satisfying afternoon for the hosts and their supporters.

Match overview

Erandio Club set the tone from the opening whistle, pressing aggressively and denying Amurrio any time on the ball. The intensity of their start was rewarded with the opening goal, and from that point the home side never really looked like surrendering their advantage.

Amurrio tried to respond, stringing together passing moves and looking for space between the lines, but they struggled to break down a well-organised Erandio back line. The second goal effectively ended the contest as a competitive fixture, and the final stages were about game management rather than drama.

Key moments

• Early pressure pays off — Erandio's high press forced an error and the opener followed.
• Doubling the lead — a second goal before the break gave the hosts control of the match.
• Amurrio's best spell — the visitors pushed forward after the interval and forced a couple of saves.
• Clean sheet secured — Erandio's defence held firm to complete a comfortable shutout.

Tactical story

The defining feature of this match was Erandio's pressing structure. By squeezing the pitch and closing down quickly, they forced Amurrio into rushed clearances and long passes, which the home defence then mopped up with relative ease. When they won the ball high up the pitch, Erandio attacked with numbers and looked dangerous on every transition.

Amurrio's best periods came when they managed to bypass the press with quick, one-touch combinations. But those moments were isolated, and without a goal to show for them, the visitors were always chasing the game.

Standout performers

Erandio's two goalscorers will rightly take the headlines, but the defensive unit deserves equal praise for a disciplined, error-free afternoon. The goalkeeper was alert when called upon, and the central midfielders controlled the tempo throughout. Amurrio's most promising performer was their left-sided attacker, who was the only visiting player to consistently trouble the home defence.

Season impact

Winning at home by a two-goal margin, while keeping a clean sheet, is exactly the formula that pushes teams up the Tercera División RFEF standings. Erandio Club will take real confidence from this performance and the manner of it. Amurrio, by contrast, will need to find more attacking invention on the road if they are to pick up points away from home.

Final score: SD Erandio Club 2-0 Amurrio.
