Tactical Story

Santurtzi lined up with a deep 4-5-1, inviting pressure and looking to hit on the counter. Real Union Irun B dominated possession but struggled to find a way through the packed midfield. The visitors’ young full-backs pushed high, leaving space in behind, but Santurtzi’s final ball was often lacking until the set-piece breakthrough. Defensively, Santurtzi were superb, blocking shots and winning second balls consistently.

Standout Players

Iker Zabala was the hero, his towering header proving decisive. The Santurtzi goalkeeper was equally important, making two outstanding saves in the final ten minutes. Real Union Irun B’s central midfielder was their best player, dictating tempo and creating chances, but his teammates lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.

Table Impact

The victory moves Santurtzi CD into a more promising position in the Tercera División RFEF, keeping them within touching distance of the playoff places. Real Union Irun B remain in the middle of the table, and while their performance showed promise, they will be frustrated to leave with nothing. The result adds extra spice to the reverse fixture later in the season.
