Real Sociedad C and Real Union Irun B played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on September 27, 2026, a result that delivered six goals, two comebacks and a dramatic late equaliser. At the Zubieta training complex, Real Sociedad C looked in control for long spells, but Real Union Irun B refused to fold and earned a hard-fought point with a goal deep into stoppage time.

Match overview

The home side started with the confidence of a youth team eager to impose its possession game, and that approach paid off early. Real Sociedad C moved the ball quickly through midfield, used the width of the pitch and created a string of chances before the interval. By the time the half-time whistle arrived, the hosts had built a 2-0 lead and appeared to be cruising.

Real Union Irun B had other ideas. The visitors changed their pressing structure after the break, won more second balls and began to attack with greater directness. Two quick goals levelled the contest, and from that point on the match became an end-to-end battle. Real Sociedad C restored their advantage late on, only for Real Union Irun B to find one final equaliser in the 93rd minute.

Tactical story

Real Sociedad C’s first-half dominance came from their midfield rotations and the aggressive positioning of their full-backs. They pinned Real Union Irun B back and created overloads in wide areas. However, the hosts struggled to manage the game after taking a two-goal lead, dropping their intensity and allowing the visitors to gain a foothold.

Real Union Irun B’s second-half adjustment was the turning point. By pushing their wingers higher and playing more directly into the striker, they bypassed the home press and forced mistakes. Their set-piece threat also caused problems all evening, and it was fitting that the final goal came from a dead-ball situation.

Standout players

Jon Balda was excellent for Real Sociedad C, linking play and driving forward from midfield. Aimar Peña’s late goal was a reward for a lively performance, while Aitor Zubeldia caused constant problems with his movement. For Real Union Irun B, Iker Otaegi was the catalyst for the comeback, and Unai Agirre’s composure in the dying moments earned his side a valuable point.

What the result means

The draw leaves both teams still searching for consistency in the early part of the Tercera División RFEF season. Real Sociedad C will be frustrated to have let a two-goal lead slip, especially at home, while Real Union Irun B will take confidence from their resilience. In a division where every point matters, this could prove to be an important result for the visitors and a costly one for the hosts.
