Real Sociedad C and Alaves C drew 1-1 in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF at the Zubieta training complex on Sunday evening. Alaves C took the lead through a well-worked counterattack, but Real Sociedad C responded in the second half to earn a point in a closely fought match.

Match overview

Real Sociedad C began the game with the confidence expected of a young side playing at home, dominating possession and looking to create openings through quick combinations in midfield. Alaves C, however, were content to sit deeper and wait for opportunities to break forward.

The visitors took the lead midway through the first half. A rapid counterattack down the right ended with a low cross into the box, and the Alaves forward guided the ball into the net from close range. Real Sociedad C pushed for an immediate response, but Alaves defended well and went into the break ahead.

Key moments

The equaliser came in the second half after a period of sustained pressure from Real Sociedad C. A clever pass between the lines released the left winger, whose cut-back was converted from around the penalty spot. The goal was no more than the home side deserved for their improved tempo after the break.

Both teams had chances to win it in the closing stages. Real Sociedad C hit the post from a free-kick, while Alaves C forced a smart save from the home goalkeeper on the counter. In the final minutes, a goalmouth scramble ended with the ball being cleared, ensuring the points were shared.

Tactical story

Real Sociedad C’s approach was based on possession and patient build-up, with their full-backs pushing high to create width. They struggled to break down Alaves C’s low block in the first half but found more success after the break by playing faster and more vertically.

Alaves C were organised and disciplined, defending in a compact shape and looking to hit on the counter. Their goal was a perfect example of their game plan, and they nearly added a second with another quick break. The visitors will be pleased with their defensive effort, even if they were pushed back for long spells.

Standout performers

Real Sociedad C’s central midfielder was influential, linking play and finding pockets of space between the lines. The left winger was a constant threat in the second half and provided the assist for the equaliser. For Alaves C, the goalkeeper made several key saves, while their striker worked tirelessly and took his goal well.

What the result means

The draw adds a point to both teams’ Tercera División RFEF totals. Real Sociedad C will be pleased with the character shown in the second half, while Alaves C will take confidence from an organised away performance. In a division where promotion and playoff places are fiercely contested, both sides will know the importance of turning draws into wins as the season progresses.
