RC Alcobendas won a six-goal thriller against Rayo Vallecano B on 4 October 2026, emerging 4-2 victorious in a Spanish Tercera División RFEF match that delivered end-to-end entertainment and no shortage of drama.

Match overview

RC Alcobendas made a blistering start, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening half-hour. Rayo Vallecano B responded before half-time to halve the deficit, but Alcobendas restored their two-goal cushion early in the second half. The visitors refused to lie down and pulled another goal back, setting up a tense finale before Alcobendas sealed the win late on.

It was a match that showcased the attacking qualities of both teams but also exposed defensive vulnerabilities. Alcobendas were the more clinical side, and their ability to respond whenever Rayo threatened proved decisive.

Tactical story

Alcobendas set up with an attacking 4-2-3-1 that aimed to exploit the space behind Rayo Vallecano B's advanced full-backs. Their early goals came from quick transitions, catching Rayo out of shape. Rayo's response was to press higher and commit more bodies forward, which created chances but also left them exposed to counter-attacks.

The game became increasingly stretched in the second half. Alcobendas were content to defend in a mid-block and spring forward at pace, while Rayo dominated possession in spells but struggled to break down a resolute defence. Alcobendas' third goal from a set piece was a crucial moment, and although Rayo scored again, the home side's game management in the final 10 minutes was excellent.

Rayo Vallecano B, as a reserve team, cannot be promoted, but their players are fighting for development and first-team opportunities. Their attacking intent was commendable, but the defensive errors proved costly against a ruthless opponent.

Standout players

Óscar Lozano was the star of the show with two goals, his movement and finishing causing problems throughout. Javi Moreno was a constant threat from midfield and scored a vital header, while Hugo Bermúdez made an impact off the bench with the clinching goal.

For Rayo Vallecano B, Diego Campos and Alejandro Ruiz were the standout performers, both taking their goals well and driving their team forward. Their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score down, but the defensive unit as a whole will be disappointed with the goals conceded.
