MRA Navarra secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Gazte Berriak in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on 18 October 2026, with a single goal separating the sides in a tightly contested Navarrese encounter. The home side’s patience and control eventually paid off, while Gazte Berriak were left to rue a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

Match overview

MRA Navarra started the match with intent, pressing high and forcing Gazte Berriak into a series of early clearances. The visitors responded by dropping deeper and trying to frustrate the hosts, and for long spells the game was played in a congested midfield area. MRA Navarra circulated the ball well but found it difficult to create clear sights of goal against a disciplined back line.

The first half produced few genuine chances. A couple of half-openings came from crosses into the box, but neither side was able to convert. Gazte Berriak grew more confident as the half progressed and showed flashes of danger on the break, though the final ball was often hurried.

The decisive moment

The breakthrough arrived in the second half after a patient move down the right. MRA Navarra worked the ball into a dangerous area, and a low cross was met by a late run into the box. The finish was calm and precise, giving the home side a lead that their overall control just about deserved.

Gazte Berriak responded with more urgency after conceding. They pushed players forward, increased the tempo of their passing and forced MRA Navarra into some hurried defensive clearances. A free kick from a promising position and a late header from a corner caused brief anxiety in the home box, but the equaliser never arrived.

Tactical story

MRA Navarra’s victory was built on control rather than volume of chances. Their midfield kept the game moving, recycled possession effectively and ensured the team stayed on the front foot. Out of possession, they pressed in coordinated spells and made it difficult for Gazte Berriak to find rhythm.

Gazte Berriak defended with numbers and tried to use the pace of their forwards on the counter. That plan kept them in the game for long periods, but it also left them with too little support in attacking areas. When they did get forward in the closing stages, MRA Navarra’s centre-backs stood firm and protected the lead.

Standout performers

The home goalkeeper produced a composed display, dealing confidently with crosses and making one important late save. The midfield anchor was also influential, breaking up play and setting the tempo. For Gazte Berriak, the central defenders deserve credit for limiting MRA Navarra for much of the match, while the goalkeeper kept the deficit to a single goal with a couple of sharp stops.

Season impact

The three points give MRA Navarra a valuable boost in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF standings and reward them for a disciplined home performance. A one-goal win may not have been spectacular, but it was the kind of result that builds momentum in a long campaign.

Gazte Berriak leave with nothing despite a competitive display. They will need to turn solid defensive work into more attacking threat if they are to climb the table. For MRA Navarra, the focus will be on maintaining the same control and finding more ruthlessness in front of goal.
