Atletico Malagueno B produced a powerful attacking display to beat Motril 4-2 in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, turning a six-goal contest into a statement away win. Motril fought back from two goals down to level the match, but the visitors found another gear in the final quarter and pulled away with two late goals.

Six-goal thriller swings away from Motril

The away side made the brighter start and took the lead inside the opening ten minutes, capitalising on a loose ball in midfield and finishing with a low strike. They doubled the advantage midway through the first half when a quick move opened up the Motril defence, leaving the home side with a mountain to climb.

Motril responded well before the break. A well-timed run into the box produced a goal that halved the deficit, and the home crowd sensed a comeback. Early in the second half, Motril found an equaliser after sustained pressure, with a close-range finish following a scramble from a corner. At 2-2, the match was wide open.

The decisive spell came after Motril’s equaliser. Instead of sitting back, Atletico Malagueno B pushed for a third and found it through another rapid transition. Motril were forced to chase the game again, and that left space for the visitors to score a fourth late on. The final goal capped a clinical performance in front of goal.

Tactical story

Motril’s ambition was evident in their second-half response, but their desire to push full-backs forward left them exposed to counters. Atletico Malagueno B were ruthless in those moments, moving the ball quickly from defence to attack and attacking the spaces behind Motril’s advanced line. The visitors’ forward runs and midfield support were too much to handle in the closing stages.

Motril will look back at the equalising period as the key opportunity. Having fought back to 2-2, they needed a period of control, but instead they conceded almost immediately. Against a team with such sharp transitions, that proved costly.

Standout performers

Atletico Malagueno B’s forward line was the difference, with two goals coming from direct running and composed finishing. The midfield also deserves credit for winning second balls and launching attacks quickly. For Motril, the attacking response was encouraging, but the defensive structure will need work after conceding four times at home.

What the result means

The win gives Atletico Malagueno B an important three points and a strong attacking marker in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF. Motril’s comeback showed character, but the defeat underlines the importance of game management after equalising. In a division where goal difference and momentum can matter, this was a result the visitors will value highly.
