Leioa 4-0 Aurrera de Vitoria: Basque Hosts Run Riot in Tercera División RFEF

SD Leioa produced a dominant 4-0 victory over Aurrera de Vitoria in the Tercera División RFEF on October 11, 2026, at the Estadio Sarriena. The home side controlled the Basque derby from start to finish, scoring twice in each half to secure a comprehensive three points.

Match Overview

The Tercera División RFEF is known for its intense regional rivalries, and this Basque clash was a perfect example. Leioa, with their passionate home support, started brightly and never looked back. Aurrera de Vitoria struggled to cope with the pace and movement of the Leioa attack from the early stages.

Leioa's pressing game forced Aurrera into mistakes, and the visitors found themselves chasing shadows for long periods. By the time the fourth goal went in, the result was never in doubt.

Key Moments

• 11th minute – Leioa 1-0: Mikel opened the scoring with a precise header from a whipped cross.
• 33rd minute – Leioa 2-0: Iker doubled the lead, firing into the roof of the net after a goalmouth scramble.
• 58th minute – Leioa 3-0: Mikel grabbed his second, running onto a through ball and finishing coolly one-on-one.
• 79th minute – Leioa 4-0: A late substitute added the fourth with a low strike from the edge of the box.

Tactical Story

Leioa lined up in a 4-2-3-1 and dominated the midfield battle. Their two holding players protected the back four while allowing the attacking midfielders to roam freely. Aurrera's 4-4-2 struggled to contain the movement between the lines, and they were repeatedly pulled out of shape.

The hosts also excelled on the flanks, with their full-backs providing constant width. Aurrera's defence was overwhelmed, and their attempts to play out from the back only invited more pressure. It was a tactical masterclass from the Leioa coaching staff.

Standout Players

Mikel was the outstanding performer, scoring twice and causing problems throughout. Iker was also impressive, grabbing a goal and an assist. Leioa's goalkeeper kept a clean sheet with a couple of smart saves, while Aurrera's goalkeeper was far busier and prevented an even heavier defeat. The Leioa captain controlled the tempo and ensured his team remained ruthless.

Table and Season Impact

This emphatic win strengthens Leioa's position in the Tercera División RFEF standings and keeps them in the race for promotion playoffs. Aurrera de Vitoria remain in the lower reaches of the table and will need to improve defensively to avoid a relegation battle. For Leioa, the confidence gained from a four-goal derby win could be crucial in the weeks ahead.
