Huracán de Balazote and CP Villarrobledo shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in Spanish Tercera División RFEF Group XVIII, with both goals arriving in a competitive contest that swung back and forth at the Municipal de Balazote. The hosts took the lead through Javi Moreno in the first half, but Villarrobledo responded after the break and earned a point that keeps their unbeaten away run intact.

It was a match of contrasting styles. Huracán pressed aggressively and tried to force mistakes high up the pitch, while Villarrobledo were content to absorb pressure and attack through the wide areas. The equaliser came from exactly that route, and from then on both teams pushed for a winner without finding the decisive moment.

Match overview

Huracán started brightly and won several early corners, using the set-piece deliveries to test a Villarrobledo defence that looked uneasy under direct pressure. The opening goal came midway through the first half when Javi Moreno found space at the near post and converted a low cross with a neat finish.

Villarrobledo grew into the game after conceding. Their midfield began to win more second balls, and their wide players started to isolate Huracán’s full-backs. The visitors had a goal ruled out for offside before half-time, a warning sign that the equaliser was coming.

Key moments

• 9th minute: Villarrobledo’s goalkeeper made a sharp save at his near post after a powerful drive from the edge of the box.
• 26th minute: Huracán took the lead when Javi Moreno finished calmly from close range after a driven cross from the right.
• 44th minute: Villarrobledo had the ball in the net, but the assistant referee’s flag cut the celebration short.
• 67th minute: The visitors equalised through Sergio “Cheli”, who arrived late in the box to convert a cut-back.
• 85th minute: Huracán nearly regained the lead, but a header from a corner was cleared off the line.
• 90+3rd minute: Villarrobledo wasted a late free-kick, sending the final chance of the match over the bar.

Tactical story

Huracán’s high press created problems early, but it also left them exposed when Villarrobledo managed to play through the first line. The visitors gradually found more joy down the flanks, stretching the home defence and creating the space for the equaliser. Huracán responded by pushing more bodies forward, but that only increased the end-to-end nature of the final twenty minutes.

Both teams had spells of control without ever dominating for long. Villarrobledo’s willingness to keep numbers behind the ball made them hard to break down after the equaliser, while Huracán’s set-piece threat remained their most reliable route to a second goal.

Standout players

Javi Moreno was Huracán’s most dangerous attacker, combining sharp movement with a clinical finish for the opening goal. Cheli changed the game for Villarrobledo after the break, not only scoring but also giving his side a focal point in transition. Both goalkeepers made important interventions in a match that could easily have produced more goals.

Season impact

The point keeps Huracán in the middle pack of the Tercera División RFEF standings, but it extends a run of home matches without a win that the club will want to address quickly. Villarrobledo, by contrast, can take confidence from another resilient away performance. In a group where fine margins decide playoff and relegation battles, this was a result that both sides could frame positively.
