• Competition: Spanish Tercera División RFEF
• Fixture: FC Cartagena B vs CD Algar
• Date: 4 October 2026
• Final score: FC Cartagena B 1–2 CD Algar

First Half: Algar Take the Lead

The match began at a high tempo, with both sides showing plenty of commitment in the middle of the park. CD Algar drew first blood around the twenty-minute mark, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to slot the ball home from close range. The goal rattled Cartagena B, who struggled to find their rhythm for the rest of the first half.

Algar could have doubled their lead before the break, hitting the post from a set-piece and forcing a smart stop from the Cartagena goalkeeper. As it was, the visitors went in 1-0 up at half-time, good value for their lead.

Second Half: Cartagena Hit Back, Algar Respond

Cartagena B came out for the second half with far more purpose, pushing their wingers high and getting more bodies into the box. Their improved intensity paid off just after the hour mark, when a well-directed header from a cross levelled the scores at 1-1. The home crowd sensed a turnaround.

But CD Algar responded in the best possible way. Instead of sitting back, they pushed forward again and regained the lead within ten minutes, a fine finish from the edge of the area following a quick counter-attack. Cartagena B threw everything forward in the closing stages, but Algar's defence held firm, clearing a series of late crosses to secure the three points.

Tactical Story

CD Algar's success was built on defensive resilience and clinical finishing. They conceded territory for long periods but were rarely opened up, and when their chances came, they took them. Cartagena B dominated possession but struggled to break down a deep-lying defence, relying heavily on crosses that were well dealt with by Algar's centre-backs. The visitors' ability to counter-attack quickly after winning the ball back in midfield was the difference between the two sides.

Standout Performers

• CD Algar's forward line: Scored twice from limited opportunities and caused problems with their direct running.
• CD Algar's centre-backs: Commanding in the air and composed on the ground, they formed the backbone of the win.
• FC Cartagena B's wide players: The home side's main threat, constantly looking to deliver into the box.

What the Result Means

For CD Algar, this is a valuable away win that will lift morale and add to their points tally in the competitive Tercera División RFEF. It shows they have the character to dig in and grind out results on the road. For FC Cartagena B, the defeat is a missed opportunity to climb the standings and a reminder that possession without penetration counts for little. The reserve side will need to find more creativity in the final third if they are to move up the table in the weeks ahead.
