CD Varea secured a narrow 1-0 away win over CP Calasancio in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on 18 October 2026, with a second-half goal settling a tense local contest at the Estadio La Estrella.

The match was tight throughout, with both sides aware of the importance of the points. Varea’s greater composure in possession and their ability to create one clear moment proved decisive, while Calasancio battled hard but lacked the finishing touch.

Calasancio defended deep and looked to counter, while Varea controlled the ball but struggled to break down a compact back line. Tactical story

Varea’s patient build-up and midfield rotation allowed them to control long spells of the game. They focused their attacks down the right side, where they found space between the full-back and centre-back. Calasancio’s low block made life difficult, but their lack of possession meant they were often forced to defend in their own half.

Calasancio’s best moments came from direct counter-attacks, but they lacked the final pass. Varea’s defensive discipline in the closing stages was impressive, and they managed the game well after taking the lead.

Standout players

Varea’s goalscorer was the difference-maker, showing composure in a tight area. Their centre-back also produced a commanding performance, winning key headers and organising the back line. For Calasancio, the goalkeeper kept them in the game with several saves, while their midfield worked tirelessly to limit Varea’s space.

Season impact

The victory strengthens Varea’s push for a promotion play-off place in the Tercera División RFEF, while Calasancio remain in need of points to climb away from the lower reaches of the table. For Varea, the clean sheet and away win will boost confidence; for Calasancio, the performance showed resilience, but the result highlights their need for more attacking threat in tight games.
