Constancia 2-2 PE Sant Jordi: Late Equaliser Denies Constancia in Four-Goal Thriller

Constancia and PE Sant Jordi played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, with a late equaliser denying the home side victory. Constancia led twice, but Sant Jordi showed character to fight back on both occasions and claim a point from an open, end-to-end contest.

The match had a bit of everything: early intensity, tactical fouls, set-piece danger and a dramatic finish. Constancia will be frustrated to have let the lead slip, while Sant Jordi will take confidence from their persistence and their ability to score at key moments.

Match overview

Constancia started strongly and took the lead after a sustained spell of pressure. Their midfield pressed high, forcing Sant Jordi into mistakes, and the opening goal came from a quick combination in the final third. Sant Jordi responded well, equalising before half-time with a well-taken finish after a fast counter-attack.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Constancia regained the lead through a set piece, and for a while they looked likely to see the game out. But Sant Jordi pushed more players forward in the final 15 minutes and found the equaliser late on, capping a resilient performance.

Key moments

• Constancia’s opener: A high turnover led to a low finish from the edge of the box and an early 1-0 lead.
• Sant Jordi’s equaliser: A quick break down the right ended with a composed finish at the near post.
• Constancia’s second: A corner was flicked on and turned in at the back post to restore the home side’s advantage.
• Late drama: Sant Jordi’s substitute arrived in the box to score the equaliser with less than five minutes remaining.

Tactical story

Constancia’s approach was aggressive and front-footed. They pressed high, won the ball back quickly and tried to pin Sant Jordi deep in their own half. Their set pieces were a constant threat, and their second goal came directly from that strength.

Sant Jordi, however, were dangerous in transition. They absorbed pressure and then attacked quickly through the wide areas, using direct running to stretch Constancia’s defence. The late equaliser came from exactly that pattern: a patient build-up followed by a sudden surge into the box.

Standout players

Constancia’s centre-forward was excellent, leading the line and scoring the opening goal. Their midfielder also dictated play and delivered several dangerous set pieces. For Sant Jordi, the substitute who scored the late equaliser made the biggest impact, while the goalkeeper kept the visitors in the game with two important saves.

Table impact

Both teams take a point from a match that could have gone either way. Constancia will be disappointed to drop two points at home, especially after leading twice. Sant Jordi, meanwhile, will see the draw as evidence of their fighting spirit and ability to compete in the Tercera División RFEF. The result leaves both sides with positives to build on and areas to improve.
