CFJ Mollerussa edged out Cerdanyola del Vallès 1-0 in a tightly contested Spanish Tercera División RFEF fixture played on 11 October 2026, claiming all three points in front of their home support. The single goal proved enough on a night when defensive discipline and game management mattered more than flair, and it lifted the hosts above their visitors in the battle for position in a notoriously demanding division.

Match Overview

The game followed the familiar pattern of Tercera División RFEF football: compact blocks, aggressive pressing in midfield, and very little space between the lines. Mollerussa set up to control the tempo at home and were rewarded for their patience, while Cerdanyola del Vallès struggled to turn promising possession into genuine chances. The away side saw plenty of the ball in the middle third but found the final pass elusive throughout the 90 minutes.

Key Moments

• The breakthrough: Mollerussa's decisive goal arrived from a well-worked attacking move, the kind of patient build-up the coaching staff have demanded all season.
• Defensive resilience: After taking the lead, the hosts dropped into a disciplined mid-block and limited Cerdanyola to efforts from distance.
• Late pressure: The visitors pushed numbers forward in the closing stages, but a combination of last-ditch blocks and composed goalkeeping preserved the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Mollerussa's shape was built around winning the second ball. Their midfielders stayed compact, forced Cerdanyola wide, and then used the flanks to spring counter-attacks. It was a conservative but effective plan. Cerdanyola, by contrast, wanted to play through the middle with short combinations, and while that approach produced neat passages of play, it rarely threatened the penalty area.

The decisive tactical difference was in transition. Whenever the visitors lost possession, Mollerussa attacked immediately, and it was from exactly that kind of moment that the winning goal originated. From there, the home side managed the clock intelligently, slowing throw-ins and keeping the ball in the corners.

Standout Performers

The Mollerussa goalkeeper deserves credit for a composed display, dealing confidently with crosses and claiming the ball under pressure in the final minutes. In front of him, the centre-back pairing read the game well and consistently stepped in ahead of the opposition strikers. For Cerdanyola, the central midfielders were the brightest performers, linking play and dictating possession, but they lacked support in the final third.

Season Impact

A 1-0 home win is worth more than three points in this division; it builds the kind of momentum that separates teams chasing promotion from those fighting to avoid the drop. Mollerussa will take confidence from the clean sheet and the efficiency of their attacking play. Cerdanyola del Vallès, meanwhile, will leave frustrated by their inability to convert territorial control into goals — a theme they will be eager to correct in their next outing.

What's Next

Both clubs return to Tercera División RFEF action with plenty at stake. Mollerussa will look to build on this result away from home, while Cerdanyola will target a response in front of their own supporters, where their patient build-up play tends to be more productive.
