CF Vimenor vs SD Laredo: Laredo Claim 2-0 Away Victory in Tercera División RFEF

SD Laredo secured an impressive 2-0 away win over CF Vimenor in Spanish Tercera División RFEF action on October 11, 2026. Two goals in the second half gave the visitors all three points at the Campo de Fútbol La Vidriera, leaving Vimenor still searching for consistency on home turf.

The match was a tactical contest for long periods, with Vimenor enjoying more possession but failing to break down a disciplined Laredo defence. The visitors took their chances clinically and managed the game expertly in the closing stages.

Match Overview

CF Vimenor started the game on the front foot, moving the ball quickly and looking to stretch Laredo's back four. However, the visitors defended deep and compact, inviting pressure and looking to counter through their fast wingers. The first half ended goalless, with Vimenor unable to convert their territorial advantage into clear-cut chances.

The deadlock was broken in the 57th minute when SD Laredo scored against the run of play. A quick counter-attack down the right ended with a composed finish inside the penalty area. Vimenor pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Laredo doubled their lead in the 78th minute with a header from a corner. The home side's frustration grew, and Laredo comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.

Key Moments

• First half dominance: Vimenor controlled possession but managed only one shot on target before the break.
• Opening goal: SD Laredo broke the deadlock with a swift counter-attack, finished low into the bottom corner.
• Second goal: A well-delivered corner was met with a powerful header to make it 2-0.
• Late pressure: Vimenor won several corners but could not find a consolation goal, with Laredo's goalkeeper commanding his area.

Tactical Story

CF Vimenor deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation and tried to build attacks patiently through midfield. Their full-backs pushed high, but they struggled to find space in the final third because Laredo's midfield dropped deep to protect the centre-backs. Vimenor's lack of width in the final 20 minutes made it easier for Laredo to defend crosses.

SD Laredo, meanwhile, set up in a 4-4-2 with a narrow midfield, looking to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Their two strikers worked tirelessly to press Vimenor's centre-backs, and the wide midfielders provided the counter-attacking thrust. The tactical plan worked perfectly: Laredo conceded possession but controlled the danger areas and took their chances when they arrived.

Standout Players

SD Laredo's goalkeeper was a rock at the back, claiming crosses and making a smart save late on to preserve the clean sheet. The centre-back who scored the second goal was dominant in the air, while the right winger was a constant outlet on the counter. The midfield duo also deserve praise for their discipline and work rate.

For CF Vimenor, the central midfielder tried to drive the team forward and was their most progressive player. The striker worked hard but was isolated for long periods. The defence looked solid for large spells but switched off for the two decisive moments, which proved costly.

Table and Season Impact

The 2-0 win lifts SD Laredo up the Tercera División RFEF standings and gives them momentum for the coming weeks. For CF Vimenor, the defeat is a setback in their push for a stronger position, and they will need to address their lack of cutting edge at home. The head-to-head record now favors Laredo, who will be confident of completing a league double later in the season.

With the campaign progressing, Laredo's defensive solidity will be a major asset. Vimenor, meanwhile, must find a way to turn possession into goals. This match highlighted the importance of efficiency in the Tercera División RFEF, where margins are often decided by a single moment of quality.
