CE Atlètic Lleida 1-0 CFJ Mollerussa — CE Atlètic Lleida edged CFJ Mollerussa 1-0 in a hard-fought Tercera División RFEF local derby on September 21, 2026, with a single second-half goal separating the two Catalan sides in a match of few clear chances but plenty of intensity.

Match overview

The game was played in the Tercera División RFEF, the fifth tier of Spanish football, where local pride and promotion points are equally valuable. Atlètic Lleida controlled the ball for long periods, while Mollerussa defended in a compact 4-4-2 and looked to hit on the break. The decisive moment came in the 67th minute when Lleida scored from a well-rehearsed set piece. Mollerussa pushed for an equaliser late on but could not find a way past a disciplined home defence. The win strengthens Lleida’s position in the Group 5 standings and extends their unbeaten run on home soil.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Lleida’s first real chance came from a free-kick, but the header went straight at the Mollerussa goalkeeper.
• 41st minute: Mollerussa nearly took the lead against the run of play, their striker forcing a smart low save from the home keeper.
• 67th minute: Lleida broke the deadlock from a corner, the ball flicked on at the near post and converted from close range.
• 79th minute: Mollerussa made attacking substitutions and began to commit more players forward.
• 90+2nd minute: A last-ditch block from a Lleida defender preserved the clean sheet and all three points.

Tactical story

Atlètic Lleida’s approach was built on patience and positional play. Their midfielders rotated constantly to create passing lanes, and the full-backs pushed high to pin Mollerussa back. The visitors, meanwhile, were happy to concede possession and defend their box, relying on quick counterattacks through their two forwards. The game turned on the set piece, an area where Lleida had clearly done their homework. After taking the lead, Lleida dropped deeper to protect the result, inviting pressure but never truly losing control. Mollerussa’s inability to create clear chances from open play was the difference between a draw and a defeat.

Standout players

Lleida’s centre-back was outstanding, winning every aerial duel and scoring the winning goal. Their defensive midfielder dictated the tempo and broke up several Mollerussa counters. The goalkeeper also made a crucial save in the first half to keep the score level. For Mollerussa, the goalkeeper was their best player, making four saves and keeping his side in the match until the final whistle. Their captain in defence organised the back line well, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

What the result means for the table

With this 1-0 win, CE Atlètic Lleida add three valuable points to their Tercera División RFEF campaign and keep pace with the promotion playoff places in Group 5. CFJ Mollerussa remain in the lower half but will take heart from a disciplined away performance against a strong local rival. The head-to-head record between these two clubs is now even tighter, and the return fixture later in the season should be another tense affair. For Lleida, the focus will be on turning home dominance into a sustained promotion push; for Mollerussa, the priority is finding more goals on the road.
