CD Utrera claimed a 2-1 comeback win against Atletico Onubense in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Estadio San Juan Bosco. The victory keeps Utrera in the hunt for a strong league position while Onubense were left to rue a missed opportunity after taking an early lead.

Match Overview

Atletico Onubense made the brighter start and were rewarded in the 23rd minute when Pablo Dominguez finished a quick counter-attack. The visitors sat deep after the goal, looking to protect their advantage, and Utrera struggled to find rhythm before the break. The half-time whistle came with Onubense 1-0 ahead, but the game shifted after the interval.

CD Utrera came out with far more intensity in the second half. Javi Medina levelled the score in the 58th minute with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box. The home side continued to push forward and found the winner in the 81st minute through Carlos Rivera, who converted from close range after a goalmouth scramble. Onubense pushed for an equaliser late on, but Utrera's defence held firm.

Key Moments

• 23' – Atletico Onubense open the scoring: Pablo Dominguez raced clear and slotted past the Utrera goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
• 58' – Utrera equalise: Javi Medina curled a shot into the bottom corner after a neat passing move.
• 81' – Utrera take the lead: Carlos Rivera pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home for 2-1.
• 90+3' – Late chance for Onubense: A header from a corner sailed just over the crossbar as Utrera survived the final pressure.

Tactical Story

Onubense set up to absorb pressure and hit on the break, and their early goal allowed them to execute that plan for much of the first half. Utrera, however, adjusted their pressing after the break, pushing their full-backs higher and overloading the midfield. The introduction of fresh legs on the wings gave Utrera more width, and Onubense struggled to clear their lines as the second half wore on. The home side's persistence eventually paid off with two well-worked goals.

Standout Players

Javi Medina was central to Utrera's comeback, not only for his equaliser but for his constant movement between the lines. Carlos Rivera's winning goal capped a strong second-half display, while Utrera's goalkeeper made a crucial late save to preserve the three points. For Onubense, Pablo Dominguez was lively in attack, but the visitors could not maintain their first-half intensity.

Season Impact

The three points lift CD Utrera's momentum in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF and reinforce their push for a top-half finish. For Atletico Onubense, the defeat is a setback in a competitive division where away points are precious. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Utrera looking to build on this comeback and Onubense aiming to bounce back quickly.
