CD Torrijos secured local bragging rights with a commanding 2-0 win over Quintanar Del Rey in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Two well-taken goals and a disciplined defensive performance gave the home side all three points in a fixture that carried the intensity of a derby from the first whistle.

Torrijos claim derby victory over Quintanar Del Rey

Playing on home soil, Torrijos began with purpose and pressed Quintanar Del Rey high up the pitch. The visitors tried to play out from the back, but Torrijos won possession in dangerous areas and forced a series of early corners. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when a deep cross from the right was headed back across goal and turned in from close range.

Quintanar Del Rey responded with a spell of possession but struggled to create clear chances against a well-organised back line. Torrijos doubled their lead in the 67th minute with a clinical counterattack. After winning the ball in midfield, the home side moved it quickly into the channel, and a low finish across the goalkeeper made it 2-0.

Match overview

Torrijos controlled the rhythm of the match for long periods, finishing with more shots, more corners, and a deserved clean sheet. Quintanar Del Rey had moments of promise, particularly down the left side, but their final pass was often rushed and their strikers were isolated against Torrijos' centre-backs.

The home side's defensive discipline was especially impressive in the final 20 minutes. As Quintanar pushed more players forward, Torrijos stayed compact, cleared their lines effectively, and nearly added a third goal on the break.

Tactical story

Torrijos lined up in a 4-4-2 formation and looked to press Quintanar's midfielders whenever they received the ball with their backs to goal. The wide players stayed high, stretching the opposition defence and creating space for the full-backs to overlap. That width was central to both goals.

Quintanar Del Rey set up in a 4-2-3-1 and tried to build patiently, but they were repeatedly forced into long passes. When they did switch play, Torrijos recovered quickly and protected the central areas. The home side's ability to win second balls gave them a clear advantage throughout the contest.

Standings impact and what's next

The three points lift Torrijos in the Tercera División RFEF table and give the squad valuable momentum in what is always a demanding promotion race. For Quintanar Del Rey, the defeat is a frustrating setback, especially in a local fixture, and the team will need to regroup quickly. Both sides now prepare for their next league matches, with Torrijos eager to build on a complete home performance and Quintanar determined to bounce back.
