CD Subiza 3-1 CD Cortes — CD Subiza produced a composed and increasingly dominant performance to beat CD Cortes 3-1 in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday, 25 October 2026. The three points were built on a bright first-half display, a deserved two-goal cushion and a well-managed second half after Cortes briefly threatened a comeback.

Match overview

Played under the lights at 19:00 local time, the regional fixture had the feel of a proper Navarra derby. Subiza started with purpose, pressing high and forcing Cortes into hurried clearances. The hosts controlled the midfield through quick combinations and looked dangerous whenever they attacked the wide areas. Cortes grew into the contest after the break and pulled a goal back, but Subiza restored their advantage at the right moment and closed the game with maturity.

Key moments

• 12’ — Subiza take the lead: A sharp move down the right ended with a low cross into the box, and the home forward converted from close range.
• 34’ — Subiza double the advantage: A high press forced a turnover, and a curled finish from the edge of the area made it 2-0.
• 52’ — Cortes respond: A well-delivered set piece was met with a strong header, giving the visitors a route back into the match.
• 71’ — Subiza restore control: A quick counter-attack cut through Cortes’ pushed-up defence, and the third goal settled the contest.

Tactical story

Subiza’s 4-2-3-1 shape worked effectively because the front four pressed as a unit and the double pivot protected the space in front of the back line. Cortes tried to find width through their full-backs, but too many moves ended with hopeful crosses rather than clear chances. After Cortes scored, the game briefly opened up, yet Subiza’s response was measured: they dropped a little deeper, kept the ball better and attacked only when the counter was truly on.

Standout players

Subiza’s No. 10 was the creative hub, linking midfield and attack with intelligent movement and clean passing. The central striker’s hold-up play allowed runners to join from deep, while the home goalkeeper handled several late deliveries confidently. For Cortes, the set-piece scorer was their most persistent threat, and their goalkeeper kept the score respectable with two important saves.

Season impact

The result gives CD Subiza a valuable home win and strengthens their position in the regional group’s upper-middle pack. For CD Cortes, the away defeat is a reminder that lapses in the first half can be costly in a division where points are hard to recover. Subiza now look forward with momentum, while Cortes must regroup quickly for their next Tercera División RFEF fixture.
