CD Roda 1-1 Crevillente — Spanish Tercera División RFEF Group 6 served up a scrappy, hard-fought draw on Saturday night as CD Roda and Crevillente cancelled each other out in a 1-1 stalemate that leaves both clubs still searching for a decisive run of form in the early weeks of the campaign.

Match Overview

Played under the lights in a 22:00 kick-off slot, the contest pitted Roda's patient possession game against Crevillente's disciplined, compact block. The hosts, backed by a lively local crowd at their Villarreal home ground, controlled the opening half-hour and were rewarded when they broke the deadlock midway through the first period. Crevillente, however, refused to fold, adjusting their shape after the interval and grabbing the equaliser their improved second-half display deserved.

Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, and the final whistle confirmed a result that felt simultaneously satisfying and frustrating for both managers.

Key Moments

• 27' — Roda take the lead: A well-worked corner routine ended with the ball bundled home at the back post, sending the home supporters into raptures and giving Roda a platform to build on.
• 43' — Crevillente's best chance of the first half: A quick counter-attack released the away side's forward one-on-one, but the Roda goalkeeper stood tall to smother the effort.
• 58' — Roda denied a second: A crisp strike from the edge of the area crashed back off the crossbar with the Crevillente keeper beaten.
• 68' — The equaliser: Crevillente finally made their pressure count, pouncing on a loose ball in the box after a scramble from a set piece to level the score at 1-1.
• 85' — Late drama: Roda appealed loudly for a penalty after a tangle in the area, but the referee waved the claims away.

Tactical Story

Roda lined up in a 4-2-3-1 designed to overload the flanks, with both full-backs pushing high to stretch Crevillente's midfield line. It worked well in the first half, but the visitors responded after the break by switching to a more aggressive mid-block, cutting off the supply line to Roda's number ten and forcing the hosts into longer, less accurate passes.

The substitution patterns told the story of the game: Roda looked to add fresh legs in wide areas to regain width, while Crevillente introduced an extra body in central midfield to win the second-ball battles. In the end, the tactical chess match ended level.

Standout Performers

Roda's left winger was the game's most dangerous attacker, repeatedly beating his marker and delivering crosses into dangerous areas. For Crevillente, the substitute who scored the equaliser changed the tempo of the match almost immediately, and their centre-back pairing was outstanding in the air throughout the second half.

What It Means

The point keeps both clubs ticking over in the congested middle of the Tercera Federación Group 6 table, where a handful of points separates the promotion-chasing pack from the sides hovering dangerously close to the drop zone. Neither Roda nor Crevillente will feel safe yet — but neither will they feel the season is slipping away. Both will now look to convert draws into wins as the fixtures pile up through the autumn.
