CD Robres 1-0 CD Cuarte Industrial: Set-Piece Winner Settles Tight Tercera Clash

CD Robres edged CD Cuarte Industrial 1-0 in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday evening, with a second-half header from Javier Sánz deciding a cagey, hard-fought contest. The home side defended their lead with character and composure, securing three points that could prove important in a crowded promotion group.

The match was low on clear-cut chances but high on intensity, as both teams understood the value of the result. CD Cuarte Industrial had spells of possession and pushed for an equaliser late on, but CD Robres held firm to claim a narrow victory in front of their home supporters.

Match overview

The first half was a battle for control in midfield. CD Robres looked to press aggressively and force mistakes, while CD Cuarte Industrial tried to build patiently from the back. Neither goalkeeper was seriously tested in the opening 30 minutes, with most attacks breaking down at the edge of the penalty area. The game’s decisive moment came just after the hour mark, when Robres won a corner on the right and Sánz powered a header into the net.

Cuarte responded well to going behind. They moved the ball quicker and pushed more players forward, but Robres dropped into a compact defensive block and limited space between the lines. The visitors’ best chance came in the final ten minutes from a free-kick, but the effort drifted just wide of the post.

Key moments

• 27th minute: CD Robres’ first meaningful effort came from a long-range strike that forced a routine save.
• 62nd minute: Javier Sánz scored the winner, heading home from a well-delivered corner.
• 71st minute: CD Cuarte Industrial appealed for a penalty after a challenge in the box, but the referee waved play on.
• 83rd minute: Robres goalkeeper Álvaro Gil made a smart save at his near post to preserve the lead.
• 90+2 minutes: Cuarte sent a late free-kick wide as the hosts saw out the win.

Tactical story

CD Robres set up with a compact 4-4-2 shape and focused on denying central spaces. Their midfielders worked tirelessly to close down Cuarte’s deep-lying playmakers, and the back four defended the box well. The winning goal came from one of the few set pieces in a game where open-play chances were scarce.

CD Cuarte Industrial dominated the ball in the second half but lacked penetration. Their crossing was often cleared, and Robres’ defenders were first to most second balls. The visitors’ substitutions added energy, but the final pass was missing. It was a classic Tercera División RFEF encounter: tight, physical and decided by a single moment.

Standout players

Javier Sánz was the match-winner for CD Robres, his towering header the difference between the sides. Álvaro Gil also deserved credit for his late save, while centre-back Diego Pascual organised the defence superbly. For CD Cuarte Industrial, midfielder Pablo Ferrer tried to drive his team forward, but he was well contained by Robres’ midfield screen.

Table and season impact

The win lifts CD Robres in the Tercera División RFEF standings and gives them momentum in a division where every point matters. CD Cuarte Industrial will feel they deserved something from the game, but their failure to convert possession into clear chances cost them. Both sides remain in the thick of the promotion-group race, with plenty of football still to play.
