CD Quintanar delivered one of their most complete home performances of the Spanish Tercera División RFEF campaign, brushing aside Atletico Pueblonuevo 4-1 in a match that was decided by the hosts’ sharpness in the final third and their relentless pressing out of possession. The scoreline reflected Quintanar’s control for long spells, while Pueblonuevo were left to rue a series of defensive lapses that turned a competitive opening into a one-sided afternoon.

Match overview

Quintanar set the tone from the first whistle, pushing their full-backs high and squeezing Pueblonuevo’s midfield into rushed decisions. The home side created the first clear chance inside the opening ten minutes and never really allowed their opponents to settle. By the time the interval arrived, the pattern was established: Quintanar circulated the ball quickly around the box, while Pueblonuevo relied on isolated counter-attacks.

The second half brought more of the same. Quintanar added to their lead early and effectively killed the contest before a late consolation gave the visitors something to show for their efforts. The result strengthens Quintanar’s position in the standings and underlines their ability to turn home fixtures into genuine six-point swing opportunities.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Quintanar opened the scoring after a sustained spell of pressure, finishing from close range following a low cross from the right.
• 28th minute: The lead doubled when a quick turnover in midfield released the striker, who calmly slotted past the goalkeeper.
• 51st minute: A third goal arrived from a set-piece routine, with the ball bundled home after a scramble in the six-yard box.
• 67th minute: Atletico Pueblonuevo pulled one back with a well-taken counter-attacking goal, briefly threatening a comeback.
• 84th minute: Quintanar restored their three-goal cushion with a composed finish on the break, ending any lingering doubt.

Tactical story

Quintanar’s aggressive 4-3-3 shape was the foundation of the win. Their midfield trio pressed in sync, forcing Pueblonuevo into long balls that were comfortably dealt with by the centre-backs. In possession, Quintanar attacked through the half-spaces, drawing defenders wide before switching play to the opposite flank. That width created repeated crossing opportunities and left the visitors’ back line stretched.

Pueblonuevo improved after the break, particularly when they pushed an extra body into midfield, but the game was already beyond them. Their consolation goal showed that they can hurt teams in transition, yet the defensive structure needs work if they are to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

Standout performers

Quintanar’s centre-forward was the obvious headline act, scoring twice and occupying both centre-backs throughout. The right winger also impressed with his direct running and delivery, while the defensive midfielder screened the back four effectively and recycled possession with real composure. For Pueblonuevo, the substitute who scored the consolation goal offered energy and purpose during a difficult afternoon.

Season impact

The three points lift CD Quintanar into a more comfortable position in the Tercera División RFEF standings and give them momentum heading into their next fixture. For Atletico Pueblonuevo, the defeat is a reminder of the fine margins in this division: they competed in patches but were punished for failing to manage the key moments. Both sides will now turn their attention to the next round of matches, with Quintanar eager to build on a statement home win.
