CD Mirandes B and UD Santa Marta played out a 0-0 draw in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on October 18, 2026, in a match defined by defensive discipline, cautious midfield battles, and a lack of precision in the final third. Both sides had spells of control, but neither could find the breakthrough that would have turned a solid point into three.

Match overview

The first half was a tightly contested affair, with Mirandes B seeing more of the ball but struggling to penetrate a well-organised Santa Marta defence. The visitors were content to sit in a compact block, deny central access, and look for quick transitions. Clear chances were scarce: Mirandes B’s best opening came from a header that drifted wide, while Santa Marta forced a routine save from a long-range effort.

After the interval, the game opened up slightly. Mirandes B pushed their full-backs higher and created two good opportunities from crosses, but Santa Marta’s goalkeeper was well positioned on both occasions. Santa Marta nearly stole the points late on when a shot from the edge of the area struck the post. In stoppage time, Mirandes B had a goal ruled out for offside, summing up a frustrating afternoon for the home side.

Key moments

• 22′ – First chance: Mirandes B headed wide from a deep free-kick.
• 37′ – Save: Santa Marta’s goalkeeper gathered a low shot from the edge of the box.
• 61′ – Pressure: Mirandes B delivered a series of dangerous crosses but could not convert.
• 83′ – Woodwork: Santa Marta hit the post with a curling effort from outside the area.
• 90+2′ – Disallowed goal: Mirandes B’s late finish was ruled out for offside.

Tactical story

Mirandes B controlled possession for long periods, building patiently from the back and trying to draw Santa Marta out of shape. Their midfield rotated well, but the final pass was often delayed, allowing the visiting defence to recover. Santa Marta’s approach was clear: stay compact, protect the central areas, and use quick wide breaks when possible.

The tactical battle was therefore one of patience versus resilience. Mirandes B’s best moments came when they increased the tempo and played early crosses into the box. Santa Marta’s best moments came from set pieces and counter-attacks. Neither style produced a goal, but both teams showed enough organisation to suggest they will remain difficult to beat in the coming weeks.

Standout performers

Santa Marta’s goalkeeper was the most influential player on the pitch, handling crosses confidently and making two important second-half saves. Their central defenders also deserve credit for limiting Mirandes B to mostly speculative efforts. For Mirandes B, the deepest midfielder was their best performer, dictating play and winning several second balls, while the left-back provided constant width and delivery from wide areas.

Table impact and what next

The draw adds one point to each side’s tally in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF standings. For Mirandes B, it is a result that highlights their control but also their need for more penetration against deep-lying opponents. For Santa Marta, the clean sheet is a positive takeaway from a difficult away fixture. Both teams will now prepare for their next matches, with Mirandes B seeking more creativity in the final third and Santa Marta aiming to build on a disciplined defensive display.
