CD Mensajero 2-2 UD San Fernando delivered a four-goal contest in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on 25 October 2026, with the hosts twice taking the lead only to be pegged back by a resilient San Fernando side. The draw felt like a fair reflection of an open, end-to-end game in which both teams had spells of control.

Match overview

Mensajero started brightly and used the width of the pitch to stretch San Fernando’s back line. Their reward came early, and for a while the home side looked capable of pulling away. San Fernando, however, stayed calm and gradually found a foothold in midfield, equalising before half-time with a well-worked move that exposed space between the full-back and centre-back.

The second half followed a similar rhythm. Mensajero restored their lead with a composed finish after a period of pressure, but San Fernando responded again, this time with a late equaliser that silenced the home crowd. Both teams pushed for a winner in the final minutes, yet neither could find the decisive goal.

Key moments

• Opening goal: Mensajero took the lead in the first quarter-hour after a quick attack down the left ended with a low finish.
• San Fernando reply: The visitors equalised before the break with a neat passing sequence through the middle.
• Hosts retake lead: Mensajero scored again early in the second half, finishing off a spell of sustained pressure.
• Late drama: San Fernando found the equaliser in the closing stages, converting a cross from the right.
• Final chances: Both sides had half-chances in stoppage time, but the goalkeepers held firm.

Tactical story

Mensajero’s approach relied on getting their wide players into one-on-one situations and delivering early crosses into the box. That worked well in the first half, but San Fernando adjusted after the break by doubling up on the flanks and forcing Mensajero inside. The visitors also pressed higher after their equaliser, disrupting the home side’s rhythm and creating turnovers in dangerous areas.

San Fernando’s comeback was built on patience and good substitutions. Their midfield became more compact in the second half, and the introduction of fresh legs gave them renewed energy for the late push. Mensajero will be frustrated to have surrendered the lead twice, especially after controlling long spells, but the attacking intent they showed is a positive to take forward.

Standout performers

Mensajero’s left winger was a constant menace, setting up attacks and forcing defenders into retreat. Their central midfielder also dictated play during the home side’s best periods. For San Fernando, the substitute who provided the late equaliser made an immediate impact, while the goalkeeper made two important saves to keep the score level before the final goal.

Season impact

In the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, every point matters in a crowded promotion race. Mensajero will see this as two dropped points at home, while San Fernando will value the point earned away from home. The result keeps both teams involved in the battle for position in the table, and the manner of San Fernando’s comeback could give them confidence for the weeks ahead.
