CD Cuarte Industrial Win 3-1 at CD La Almunia in Aragón Derby

CD Cuarte Industrial produced one of their most convincing away displays of the season on Sunday, winning 3-1 at CD La Almunia in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF. In a fixture that carries genuine local significance in Aragón, the visitors were sharper in the final third, more aggressive in the duels and deservedly took all three points back to Zaragoza.

For La Almunia, it was a frustrating afternoon: a game that remained competitive into the second half slipped away through defensive lapses and an inability to convert spells of possession into clear chances.

Match Overview

Tercera RFEF Group 17 is the Aragón section of Spain's fifth tier, a division that mixes historic provincial clubs with ambitious suburban projects from the outskirts of Zaragoza. CD Cuarte Industrial are part of that second group — a well-organised, modern club from a municipality adjoining the regional capital — while CD La Almunia represent a proud footballing town in the province of Zaragoza with a strong community identity around the game.

Both sides came into the contest looking to establish early-season consistency, and the opening exchanges reflected that nervousness: plenty of energy, plenty of long balls, and very little clean possession in the final third.

The Key Moments

• Opening goal: Cuarte struck first, capitalising on a loose pass in midfield. The ball was moved forward in two passes and finished calmly across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.
• La Almunia reply: The hosts responded well and drew level before the interval, following a period of pressure down the left, with a strike from the edge of the box that gave the Cuarte goalkeeper no chance.
• Second half breakthrough: Cuarte restored their advantage shortly after the restart. A deep cross from the right was headed back across goal and converted from close range, a goal that visibly deflated the home side.
• Third goal: The decisive third arrived as La Almunia pushed men forward in search of an equaliser. Cuarte won the ball on the counter, broke at speed and finished the move with a composed finish to seal the 3-1 result.

Tactical Story

Cuarte's victory was built on territorial discipline rather than possession. They were content to let La Almunia have the ball in front of them, particularly in wide areas where the hosts' deliveries were rarely dangerous enough to trouble a well-marshalled back four. In central areas, Cuarte's midfield pair screened the defence effectively and controlled the second balls, which allowed their wingers to attack space on the break.

La Almunia's problems were familiar ones at this level. Their build-up play was tidy enough to reach the final third, but the final pass lacked precision and their centre-forward was frequently isolated. Chasing the game in the last 20 minutes, they left themselves exposed, and Cuarte's third goal was the predictable consequence.

Standout Performers

• Cuarte's midfield engine: Controlled the tempo and made the interception that led to the third goal.
• Cuarte's right winger: A constant threat in transition and the source of the assist for the second.
• La Almunia's goalscorer: One of the few home players who consistently asked questions of the visiting defence.

What It Means

Three points away from home against a local rival are worth their weight in gold in Tercera RFEF, where the fixture list is long, travel is constant and the promotion race is decided by narrow margins. Cuarte Industrial will take real confidence from the manner of the win, especially the efficiency of their counter-attacking, while La Almunia must find a way to convert strong spells of possession into goals if they are to climb the table in the coming weeks.
