CD Huarte 1-0 Avance Ezcabarte: Single Goal Settles Tight Navarre Contest

CD Huarte claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Avance Ezcabarte in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on 24 October 2026, with a single second-half goal proving enough to decide a closely contested match. In a fixture between two Navarre-based sides, the home team’s organisation and patience paid off against an opponent that enjoyed spells of possession but struggled to turn territory into clear chances.

The result gives CD Huarte three valuable points in a division where margins are often narrow and home form can shape the course of an entire season. For Avance Ezcabarte, it was a frustrating afternoon: compact, competitive and often tidy in possession, but ultimately unable to find the finishing touch.

Match overview

The first half was a cautious affair, with both teams careful not to leave space behind their defensive lines. CD Huarte looked to press selectively and attack through the channels, while Avance Ezcabarte tried to build from the back and use width to stretch the home defence. Clear-cut chances were limited, but the intensity of the midfield battle made it clear that one goal could be decisive.

That goal arrived after the break, and it changed the shape of the contest. CD Huarte were able to drop slightly deeper and defend their advantage, while Avance Ezcabarte were forced to commit more players forward. The visitors created a few nervous moments late on, but the home side’s back line held firm.

Key moment

The decisive breakthrough came in the 63rd minute when Unai Hualde found space on the edge of the area and guided a composed finish past the goalkeeper. The move began with a patient spell of possession on the right, and when the ball was worked infield, Hualde’s first-time effort gave Avance Ezcabarte no chance to recover.

From that point, the match became a test of CD Huarte’s concentration. Avance Ezcabarte pushed more bodies into attacking areas and delivered several crosses into the box, but the home defence dealt with them well. Goalkeeper Iñaki Redín made one important late save to preserve the clean sheet and ensure the three points stayed in Huarte.

Tactical story

CD Huarte’s victory was built on discipline rather than dominance. They defended in a compact block, limited central access and forced Avance Ezcabarte to play around them rather than through them. When they regained possession, they looked to move the ball forward quickly and target the spaces left by the visitors’ advancing full-backs.

Avance Ezcabarte had more of the ball in the second half but found it difficult to create high-quality chances against a well-organised opponent. Their best moments came from wide deliveries and second balls around the penalty area, but CD Huarte’s defenders remained alert and protected the goal effectively.

Standout performers

Unai Hualde will take the headlines for the winning goal, but the performance was also built on the work of CD Huarte’s goalkeeper and central defenders. Iñaki Redín’s late save was crucial, while the midfield unit worked tirelessly to close down space and disrupt Avance Ezcabarte’s rhythm.

For Avance Ezcabarte, the midfield kept the team moving and ensured they remained competitive until the final whistle. The visitors will feel they deserved more from their possession, but they lacked the final pass needed to unlock a determined home defence.

Season impact

The win strengthens CD Huarte’s position in the Tercera División RFEF and underlines the value of their home form. In a league where promotion hopes and relegation worries can be separated by small margins, grinding out 1-0 victories is an important quality.

Avance Ezcabarte will take encouragement from the competitiveness of their display, but they will also know that converting possession into goals is the next step. The result leaves them with work to do as the season progresses, while CD Huarte can enjoy a well-earned three-point haul.
