CD Guarnizo and CD Bezana played out a 1-1 draw in an entertaining Cantabrian derby in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on October 10, 2026. Both goals came in the second half, with Bezana taking the lead before Guarnizo responded to earn a share of the spoils at the Campo Municipal El Pilar.

Match Overview

The first half was evenly contested, with both sides creating half-chances but failing to find the breakthrough. The deadlock was broken in the 51st minute when Pablo Gómez finished neatly for CD Bezana after a quick move down the right. Guarnizo pushed for an equaliser and got their reward in the 72nd minute when Javier Ruiz converted a penalty after a handball in the box. Both teams had late opportunities to win it, but a draw was a fair reflection of the contest.

Key Moments

• 28' – Guarnizo’s striker fires just wide after a defensive mix-up.
• 51' – Goal! Pablo Gómez slots home for Bezana after a slick passing move.
• 72' – Goal! Javier Ruiz sends the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.
• 80' – Bezana’s winger curls a shot inches past the far post.
• 90' – Guarnizo’s last-ditch corner is cleared off the line.

Tactical Story

Both managers set up to control the midfield, resulting in a cagey opening period. Bezana looked to exploit space behind Guarnizo’s full-backs, and their goal came from exactly that avenue. Guarnizo responded by increasing their pressing intensity and pushing their wingers higher. The penalty came from a sustained period of pressure, and thereafter the game became stretched, with both sides trading blows in search of a winner.

Standout Players

Pablo Gómez was lively for Bezana, his movement causing problems throughout. Javier Ruiz showed nerves of steel to convert the equalising penalty. Both goalkeepers made important saves in the second half, ensuring the points were shared. Guarnizo’s captain led by example in midfield, breaking up play and driving his team forward.

Table Impact

The draw leaves both clubs in mid-table, with Guarnizo edging slightly ahead on goal difference. Neither side will be entirely satisfied, but the point keeps them clear of the relegation zone and within reach of the playoff pack. The reverse fixture promises to be another closely fought affair, with local bragging rights at stake.
