CD Derio 2-0 Santurtzi CD — CD Derio produced a controlled and efficient performance to defeat Santurtzi CD 2-0 in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on September 21, 2026, earning three valuable points in front of their home supporters.

Match Overview

Derio set the tone from the opening whistle, pressing Santurtzi high and forcing the visitors into hurried clearances. The home side’s early intensity paid off midway through the first half when a well-worked corner was headed powerfully into the net. Santurtzi tried to respond through possession, but they struggled to find rhythm against Derio’s aggressive midfield press.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Santurtzi saw more of the ball, but Derio’s defensive structure remained intact. The hosts sealed the victory late on with a clinical counter-attack, wrapping up a win that was built on organisation, discipline, and ruthless finishing.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: CD Derio took the lead from a corner, with a towering header giving the goalkeeper no chance.
• 45+1 minutes: Santurtzi nearly equalised, but a goal-bound effort was cleared off the line.
• 61st minute: Derio’s goalkeeper made a strong save to preserve the clean sheet.
• 84th minute: Derio doubled the lead on the break, finishing calmly after a quick transition.
• 90th minute: Santurtzi pushed bodies forward, but Derio’s back line held firm.

Tactical Story

Derio lined up with a high-pressing 4-2-3-1, aiming to win the ball in Santurtzi’s half and attack before the visitors could set their defensive shape. The strategy worked well, particularly in the first half, when Santurtzi’s attempts to play out from the back were repeatedly disrupted. Derio’s midfield duo screened the defence effectively and allowed the full-backs to advance.

Santurtzi preferred a patient build-up, but their possession lacked penetration. Too often, their attacks ended in hopeful crosses or long shots. When they did break through, Derio’s goalkeeper and centre-backs were alert. The second goal summed up the match: Santurtzi committed numbers forward, Derio won the ball, and a few passes later the game was over as a contest.

Standout Players

Derio’s centre-back was commanding in the air and composed on the ground, while the goalkeeper made a crucial second-half save. The striker’s late finish capped a hard-working display, and the midfield presser set the tone with his relentless energy. For Santurtzi, their central midfielder tried to drive the team forward, but he was often isolated by Derio’s compact defending.

What the Result Means

The win lifts CD Derio in the Tercera División RFEF standings and strengthens their position as a difficult team to beat at home. The clean sheet will be especially pleasing for the coaching staff, as it reflected the team’s defensive discipline. Santurtzi CD leave with questions to answer in the final third; they enjoyed spells of possession but lacked the cutting edge to turn control into goals. In a division where every point matters, Derio’s clinical edge proved decisive.
