CD Boiro and Racing Villalbes played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in their Spanish Tercera División RFEF encounter at the Campo de Fútbol de Barraña on September 28, 2026. In a typically combative Galician derby, both sides took a share of the spoils after an evenly contested 90 minutes.

Match Overview

The match started at a high tempo, with Boiro looking to assert themselves on home soil. They were rewarded for their early pressure with a goal in the 18th minute, a well-worked move finished off from close range. Racing Villalbes responded well and began to see more of the ball. Their persistence paid off in the 39th minute when they equalised with a stunning free-kick. The second half was a cagey affair, with both teams wary of conceding again, and despite a few half-chances, neither could find a winner.

Key Moments

• 39' – Racing Villalbes equalise direct from a free-kick.
• 67' – Boiro hit the post from a header.

Tactical Story

Boiro lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, looking to use width to stretch the Villalbes defence. However, Villalbes' compact 4-4-2 made it difficult for them to find space in behind. The away side were happy to sit deep and counter-attack, and their equaliser came from a set-piece, an area they clearly worked on. In the second half, Boiro pushed more men forward but left themselves vulnerable to counter-attacks. Villalbes, meanwhile, seemed content with a point and managed the game well defensively.

Standout Players

Boiro's central midfielder was instrumental in linking play and created several chances. Their striker also worked tirelessly, scoring the opening goal. For Villalbes, the goalkeeper was the hero, making two excellent saves, while their free-kick specialist provided the moment of quality that earned the draw.

Table and Season Impact

The draw leaves both teams in mid-table positions in the Tercera División RFEF Group 1. Boiro remain unbeaten at home but will feel they dropped two points, while Villalbes will be satisfied with a point on the road. With the season still in its early stages, both sides will look to build momentum in the coming weeks.
