Match Overview

At the Estadio Municipal de Calabagueiros, Portonovo stunned the hosts by taking an early lead. But Barco responded with growing authority, equalizing just before half-time and then scoring the winner midway through the second half. It was a match full of local pride, with tackles flying in and both sets of fans creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Portonovo take the lead. A mistake in the Barco defence allows the striker to run through and finish calmly.
• 44th minute: Barco equalize. A corner is flicked on at the near post and turned in from close range.
• 67th minute: Barco take the lead. A moment of individual brilliance — a mazy run from the winger ends with a shot into the top corner.
• 90+2 minute: Portonovo nearly equalize, but a superb save from the Barco goalkeeper denies them a point.

Tactical Story

Portonovo’s early goal came from pressing high and forcing an error, but they then sat back, inviting pressure. Barco’s manager urged his full-backs forward, and the extra width allowed them to dominate the flanks. The equalizer came from a set-piece, and the winner from a transition. Portonovo tried to respond by bringing on fresh legs, but Barco’s defence held firm, with the midfield duo shielding the back four effectively in the closing stages.

Standout Players

Iago Vázquez was the hero for Barco, scoring the equalizer and then providing the assist for the winner. His energy and direct running were too much for Portonovo. The winning goalscorer, Brais Fandiño, produced a moment of magic. For Portonovo, Uxío Otero took his goal well and worked tirelessly, but he was isolated for long periods.

Season Impact

The three points lift Barco into a promising position in Tercera División RFEF Group 1, while Portonovo remain in search of consistency. In a division packed with Galician derbies, home wins are precious, and Barco will hope this comeback sparks a strong run. Portonovo, meanwhile, must learn to protect leads if they are to climb the table.
