CD Barco claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Pontevedra CF B in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, thanks to a second-half goal that settled a tightly contested match. The win boosts Barco's promotion ambitions, while Pontevedra B will feel unlucky to leave empty-handed.

A Cautious Start

The first half was a cagey affair, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances. CD Barco dominated possession but found Pontevedra CF B's defense well-organized. The visitors looked dangerous on the break, but the final ball was often lacking. The halftime whistle blew with the score goalless, and both managers would have been urging their teams to be more adventurous.

The Breakthrough

The deadlock was broken in the 67th minute when Iago López rose to meet a corner from the left and powered a header past the Pontevedra goalkeeper. It was a goal that had been coming, as Barco had increased the pressure with a series of corners. Pontevedra B pushed for an equalizer, bringing on fresh legs, but Barco's defense held firm.

Defensive Solidity

Barco's back four were outstanding, limiting Pontevedra B to just three shots on target. The goalkeeper made a crucial save in the 85th minute to preserve the clean sheet. The midfield duo worked tirelessly to shield the defense and launch counter-attacks. It was a professional performance from the home side.

Key Players

Iago López was the hero with his winning goal, while center-back Marcos Varela was a rock at the back. For Pontevedra B, their goalkeeper made several good saves to keep the score down. The young forward Rubén García showed flashes of promise but lacked support.

League Context

This victory moves CD Barco up the Tercera División RFEF table, keeping them in contention for a promotion playoff spot. Pontevedra CF B, a reserve team, remains in the lower half but will take positives from their defensive organization. The three points are vital in a league where consistency is key to success.
