Unionistas B secured a hard-fought 2-1 away win over CD Atletico Mansilles in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, using a disciplined defensive display and a decisive second-half moment to take all three points on Saturday night.

Match overview

Atletico Mansilles had the better of the early possession, but Unionistas B were compact, organised and dangerous on the counterattack. The visitors absorbed pressure well and grew into the game as the first half wore on. The match was decided in the details: Unionistas B were more clinical in the final third, while Mansilles struggled to convert their territory into clear chances.

Key moments

Unionistas B took the lead against the run of play when a quick break down the left ended with a low finish into the far corner. Mansilles responded positively and equalised before half-time, capitalising on a spell of pressure with a close-range finish after a goalmouth scramble. The second half was more open, with both sides pushing for the next goal. The decisive moment arrived in the closing stages when Unionistas B won the ball high up the pitch and finished a swift counterattack to make it 2-1.

Mansilles pushed for a late equaliser and delivered several crosses into the box, but Unionistas B defended their penalty area with composure and held on through stoppage time.

Tactical story

Unionistas B’s shape without the ball was the foundation of the result. The visitors kept their midfield compact, denied central access and forced Mansilles into wide areas where crosses could be defended. When they regained possession, they looked to attack quickly through the channels. Mansilles were patient in build-up but lacked a cutting edge at key moments, and their final pass too often went astray under pressure.

Standout performers

Unionistas B’s forward was central to the win, leading the line with intelligent movement and finishing the winning goal. The midfield anchor also impressed with a tireless display, breaking up play and recycling possession. For CD Atletico Mansilles, the left-sided defender was one of the brighter performers, pushing forward well and dealing with a difficult defensive assignment.

Season impact

The three points give Unionistas B a strong away result to build on in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF. For Atletico Mansilles, it is a frustrating night after a competitive performance, and the team will need to turn possession into more consistent chances in the matches ahead. The narrow margin shows how fine the details are in this division, where a single transition can decide the outcome.
