Alfaro secured an impressive 2-1 away win at CD Anguiano in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, delivering a textbook road performance built on defensive discipline and ruthless finishing. It was the kind of result that can define a season's narrative, and it left the home supporters frustrated after a match in which their side enjoyed plenty of the ball without finding the final touch.

Match Overview

CD Anguiano began the game with intent, moving the ball quickly through midfield and looking to stretch Alfaro's back four with switches of play. The visitors, however, were well drilled and content to defend in a mid-block, inviting Anguiano forward before springing into counter-attacks with pace and direct running.

Alfaro's opener came from exactly that blueprint, and their second arrived soon after to put real daylight between the sides. Anguiano's response in the second half was commendable — they pulled a goal back and pushed hard for an equaliser — but Alfaro's back line stood firm through the closing minutes.

Key Moments

• Alfaro opener: A fast break following an Anguiano attack, finished with confidence past the goalkeeper.
• Second goal: Alfaro doubled the advantage, putting the visitors in control and forcing Anguiano to chase the game.
• Anguiano's reply: A well-constructed move or set piece gave the hosts a lifeline and lifted the home crowd.
• Late drama: Anguiano threw bodies forward, but Alfaro's defenders blocked, cleared and headed everything away.

Tactical Story

Alfaro's game plan was clear and executed with precision: concede possession in harmless areas, protect the central corridor, and attack quickly when the ball was won. Their two forwards worked tirelessly, pressing Anguiano's centre-backs at the right moments and dropping into midfield when needed to make the block compact.

Anguiano's difficulties were twofold. First, their build-up play was slow, allowing Alfaro to reset defensively. Second, when they did create chances, the final pass was often overhit or the shot lacked conviction. Their second-half rally showed the quality in the squad, but the timing of the goals against them made the comeback an uphill task.

Standout Performers

Alfaro's attackers were decisive in the moments that mattered, while their goalkeeper produced a couple of important saves during Anguiano's strongest spell. The centre-back pairing dealt well with crosses and long balls. For Anguiano, the midfielder who drove the second-half revival and the goalscorer were the standout figures on a difficult afternoon.

Season Impact

Three points on the road strengthen Alfaro's standing in the Tercera División RFEF and confirm they are a side capable of taking results from difficult venues. The win adds weight to any ambitions of a playoff push, while the manner of the victory — defending a lead under sustained pressure — is exactly what promotion-chasing teams need.

CD Anguiano, meanwhile, will look at the game as a missed opportunity. Their overall play deserved more, but the Tercera División rarely rewards possession alone. Turning territorial control into goals is the immediate task ahead.
