CD Alhaurino 2-2 Arenas Armilla: Late equalizer seals entertaining Tercera División RFEF draw

CD Alhaurino and Arenas Armilla shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday evening. The match produced four goals, several momentum swings and a late equalizer, making it an entertaining contest that left both sides with reasons for encouragement and frustration.

Alhaurino started brightly and took the lead after applying early pressure. Their midfield won the majority of second balls, and the forward line found space behind Arenas Armilla’s defence. The visitors responded well, though, gradually settling into the game and finding joy down the flanks. Their equalizer came before half-time, rewarding a spell of sustained possession and a well-worked move in the final third.

Match overview

The second half was end-to-end. Alhaurino regained the lead after a set piece caused confusion in the Arenas Armilla penalty area, but the visitors refused to lie down. They pushed more players forward in the final 20 minutes and were rewarded with a late equalizer, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to secure a point.

Both teams had chances to win it in the closing stages. Alhaurino appealed for a penalty after a challenge in the box, while Arenas Armilla broke quickly on several occasions and forced the home goalkeeper into action. In the end, neither side could find a fifth goal, and the draw reflected the balance of play over the 90 minutes.

Key moments

• Alhaurino open the scoring: Early pressure paid off with a goal from a quick attacking move.
• Arenas Armilla equalize: The visitors responded before half-time with a composed finish after a spell of possession.
• Hosts retake the lead: A set piece led to Alhaurino’s second goal early in the second half.
• Late drama: Arenas Armilla equalized in the closing stages after capitalizing on a defensive mistake.
• Chances at both ends: Both teams had opportunities to win the match in a tense final period.

Tactical story

Alhaurino’s approach relied on intensity and direct play. They pressed Arenas Armilla’s defenders, looked to win the ball high and attacked quickly through the middle. That strategy created chances but also left space for the visitors to exploit when their press was bypassed. Arenas Armilla were patient in possession and increasingly dangerous as the match wore on, particularly when they stretched the play wide.

Set pieces played a major role in the contest. Alhaurino’s second goal came from a delivery that caused panic in the box, while Arenas Armilla’s equalizer followed a moment of hesitation in the home defence. The visitors’ substitutions also made a difference, adding fresh energy in the final third and helping them maintain pressure until the end.

Standout performers

Alhaurino’s forward line caused problems throughout, with movement and link-up play creating space for the midfield runners. Their goalkeeper made a crucial save late on to preserve a point. For Arenas Armilla, the midfield engine room was central to their comeback, while the substitutes provided the spark needed for the late equalizer. Both defences had difficult moments, but both sides also showed character in responding to setbacks.

What it means

The draw adds a point to both teams’ tallies in the Tercera División RFEF and underlines how competitive the division can be. Alhaurino will be disappointed to concede late after twice leading, while Arenas Armilla can take confidence from their resilience. With the table remaining tight, both sides will view this as a match that could have been won — and one that may prove important when the season reaches its decisive stages.
